<The Promise I Made to Myself >

• WoooOooo~~~I didn`t write any entry in English for a few days.
• So I should be regretting the fact that I didn't write.
• So... I will write soon, but not this time, because I have to turn my computer off now! So I hope I can see you tomorrow!
• I'll keep this promise I made to myself.^^ Haha~bye bye!
• ( This time, using English, I would like to talk about yesterday's Chinese entries.

• Yesterday I wrote a Chinese diary entry about two retrievers that I met by chance at Sky Park.
• Wow, they were such handsome and nice dogs!
• They were golden retrievers: one retriever is a two years old male, and the other retriever is a seven years old female.
• The owner of the dogs (The dogs' owner) said that he bought the female dog, but that the male dog was thrown away by his daughter's friend. So he took that dog in.
• They were really gentle and cute, even though they were a little big.
• When I petted them under their chin, they really liked it.
• They looked like lovely babies feeling mom’s sweet caress/touch
• And when we left them, it seemed like they didn't want us to go. They just sat there and kept gazing at us, their eyes following us as we left.
• Haha ~~ My whole body probably smelled like my dogs Betty and Zzang-A .
• Since other dogs can smell it, they become instinctively kind/ nice to me.
• So does this mean that I kept the promise that I made to myself yesterday?( Now, I have just accomplished the promise that I made to myself yesterday. ) ^^ .( Yesterday I promised to myself, “Tomorrow, I will write an English entry !” ^^) haha...

Hello. My name is jihye kim.
My first name, jihye, means wisdom and my last name, kim, means wealth. I love my name.
Also, I have many nick names and I love mines. One of my nick names is “dda dda dda”. I set up my email address using the www that is World Wide Web. When I changed that purposely like World Wide Wisdom using my name, many friends of mine laughed at me and call me “dda dda dda” that is modified www. Many people think I am funny and ridiculous. Recently, thankfully, my friend changed my nickname to “moogoong” that is the Korean national flower and that means infinite. I like this nickname a lot.
Endless, keeping improving is one of my goals.
I am in my middle twenties and I’m a senior.
To me, this year is really important because I’m going to graduate school and start to work. So fall, I have experienced many things and those experiences tell me challenge to myself.
Confusion said he who says he can or he who says he can't is both usually right.
So I want to represent of possibility for I can do what I want to be.

I've just been to a rental video shop.
I think it is about the guy who kept eating only McDonald's Hamburgers and fries.
I am going to watch it soon after I finish cleaning my room.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

The staff stopped the skii lift.
They were left stranded for 5 days.
The three young men were left behind on the skiilift.
The temperature was-20℃
And one of the men said "Ok I will go and look for help."
They were 15m high from the ground.
He said " I will jump onto the ground.
it is ok because there is snow on the ground"
He did jump and of course he broke his leg.
It was grotesque.
The bone fractured and came out of his flesh.

Three young men went skiing and they wanted to ski after dark.
And the staff said "No skiing after dark"
They begged the staff to let them ski despite the warning of the staff at skii resort.
Finally he conceded to them to ride on the skii lift.
That was irresponsible from both parties.
When they were on the skii lift the staff member left for the toilet.
He said to the other staff " there are three men on the lift so please watch carefully.
And the staff saw another group of young men came down.
So the staff thought they were done.

Pumas are large, cat-like animals which are found in America.
When reports came into London Zoo that a wild puma had been spotted forty-five miles south of London, they were not taken seriously.
However, as the evidence began to accumulate, experts from the Zoo felt obliged to investigate,
for the descriptions given by people who claimed to have seen the puma were extraordinarily similar.
The hunt for the puma began in a small village where a woman picking blackberries saw 'a large cat' only five yards away from her.
It immediately ran away when she saw it, and experts confirmed that a puma will not attack a human being unless it is cornered.
The search proved difficult,
for the puma was often observed at one place in the morning and at another place twenty miles away in the evening.
Wherever it went, it left behind it a trail of dead deer and small animals like rabbits.
Paw prints were seen in a number of places and puma fur was found clinging to bushes.
Several people complained of 'cat-like noises' at night and a businessman on a fishing trip saw the puma up a tree.
The experts were now fully convinced that the animal was a puma, but where had it come from?
As no pumas had been reported missing from any zoo in the country,
this one must have been in the possession of a private collector and somehow managed to escape.
The hunt went on for several weeks, but the puma was not caught.
It is disturbing to think that a dangerous wild animal is still at large in the quiet countryside.

.-----<I went to ski resort with two Taiwanese friends.(/ with two freinds from Taiwan/) ----
• These pictures are from a ski resort that I went last Monday with two Taiwanese friends.
• (These are a ski resort pictures that I went with two friends who came from Taiwan.)
• The first picture is the place where my Taiwanese friends were learning how to ski. (The first picture is the place where Taiwanese friends were taking ski lessons.)
•Although this ski resort wasn't really big, is not far from Seoul. They also offer a free shuttle bus service between the ski resort and Seoul thus it`s very convenience.
• Moreover, I heard we can go to that ski resort by subway since last December making it more convenient than before.
• One of my Taiwanese friends said it was her first time seeing the snow because it doesn't snow in Taiwan
• Haha~~ Since it was her first time wearing ski boots then I guess she must have been scared? However they had so much fun.
• I'm sure you can imagine how it feels to see the snow for the first time and being excited to ski for the first time. --((I'm sure you will feel really excited if you were skiing or watching the snow for the first time.))-

• Anyway, I came back home very late and slept like a baby but I got up very late. When I got up my body was very sore (쓰린)but now I feel better. Ah ~I should go out soon, so this time I will write until this. When I come back home I'll try to talk about yesterday’s story. I will write in Korean and record in Korean too. Then….see you then! 사진은 대만에서 온 친구 두 명을 데리고 어제 갔던 서울 근교의 작은 스키장입니다. 여러분이 본 장면은 그 친구들이 막 스키를 배우고 있는 모습입니다. 이 스키장은 비록 규모는 그다지 크지 않지만, 서울에서 멀지 않고 무료 셔틀 버스가 있어서 교통이 매우 편리합니다. 작년 12월부터 지하철이 개통 되었다고 하니 교통이 훨씬 더 편리해졌네요.
• 이 두 친구 중 한 명이 말하기를, 대만에는 눈이 안 내리므로 이번이 처음으로 눈을 보는 거라고 했습니다. 하하.~~ 오늘이 처음으로 스키를 신어 보는 것이니, 당연히 겁도 나겠지요? 그렇지만 너무 재미있어하고 흥분했습니다. 여러분도 처음으로 흰 눈을 보는 그 느낌, 그리고 처음으로 스키를 타는 기분, 충분히 짐작할 수 있으시겠죠?

Today you'll learn why so many French words have been absorbed into the English language:
The one date which schoolchildren in Britain never forget is the year the Norman French invaded the English coast, defeated the English king Harold and virtually took over the running of most of what today we call Britain. The year was 1066. Many changes followed.
The major change I want to talk about is the influence that French had on the language. When I say the language, I am referring to a very early form of English that we call Anglo Saxon because before 1066 the islands of Britain had been invaded by many different nationalities and many words had been taken into the language but French had the greatest influence.
As you can imagine, the invaders (the Norman French) lived a good life and the local population did all the hard work. We can see the different words in relation to food. The locals used the words pig, cow and chicken because they looked after the animals. The landowners, the Norman French, of course knew nothing about pigs because they just ate the pork, they weren't interested in cows because they ate the beef and what did they know about chickens? As far as they were concerned, it was the poultry that ended up on their table. These are simple examples of two words for the same thing and the word you used then depended on whether you were the farm worker or the eater.
This dual strand not only refers to animals and food but also to many different words in every area of the language. I'll mention just three examples. We have the French/Latin verb 'commence' and the Anglo-Saxon word 'begin'. Both mean the same in the sense of the first time something happens but they are not interchangeable as we use them in different contexts. 'Commence' is usually used in official language: 'The new government scheme to help the unemployed commences on October 1st 2009.'
'Begin' is much more general: 'At what time do you begin work in the morning?'
'Demand' and 'ask' are two words you use when you want somebody to do something for you. 'Demand' is very strong in meaning where you are giving the other person little choice: 'The army sergeant demands complete obedience to every order that he gives the soldiers'. 'Ask' is much gentler: 'He raised his hand because he wanted to ask me a question.'
The last pair: 'Finish' and 'end'. This is more difficult. 'Finish' is used when the conclusion/last part is expected as in: 'The concert finishes at 8.00'clock'. 'End' on the other hand often indicates the last part of something more serious as in: 'The whole country went crazy when they heard that the war hand ended. I'm sorry it's so complicated but don't blame me -- blame the French, it's all their fault!
