IN THE very olden time, there lived a semi-barbaric king, whose ideas, though somewhat polished and sharpened by the progressiveness of distant Latin neighbours, were still large, florid, and untrammelled, as became the half of him which was barbaric. He was a man of exuberant fancy, and, withal, of an authority so irresistible that, at his will, he turned his varied fancies into facts. He was greatly given to self-communing; and, when he and himself agreed upon anything, the thing was done. When every member of his domestic and political systems moved smoothly in its appointed course, his nature was bland and genial; but whenever there was a little hitch, and some of his orbs got out of their orbits, he was blander and more genial still, for nothing pleased him so much as to make the crooked straight, and crush down uneven places.

Among the borrowed notions by which his barbarism had become semified was that of the public arena, in which, by exhibitions of manly and beastly valour, the minds of his subjects were refined and cultured.

But even here the exuberant and barbaric fancy asserted itself. The arena of the king was built, not to give the people an opportunity of hearing the rhapsodies of dying gladiators, nor to enable them to view the inevitable conclusion of a conflict between religious opinions and hungry jaws, but for purposes far better adapted to widen and develop the mental energies of the people. This vast amphitheatre, with its encircling galleries, its mysterious vaults, and its unseen passages, was an agent of poetic justice, in which crime was punished. Or virtue rewarded, by the decrees of an impartial and incorruptible chance.

When a subject was accused of a crime of sufficient importance to interest the king, public notice was given that on an appointed day the fate of tile accused person would be decided in the king's arena,--a structure which well-deserved its name; for, although its form and plan were borrowed -from afar, its purpose emanated solely

From the brain of this man, who, every barleycorn a king, knew no tradition to which he owed more allegiance than pleased his fancy, and who engrafted on every adopted form of human thought and action the rich growth of his barbaric idealism.

When all the people had assembled in the galleries, and the king, surrounded by his court, sat high up on his throne of royal state on one side of the arena, he gave a signal, a door beneath him opened, and the accused subject stepped out into the amphitheatre. Directly opposite him, on the other side of the enclosed space, were two doors, exactly alike and side by side. It was the duty and the privilege of the person on trial, to walk directly to these doors and open one of them. He could open either door he pleased: he was subject to no guidance or influence but that of the aforementioned impartial and incorruptible chance. If he opened the one, there came out of it a hungry tiger, the fiercest and most cruel that could be procured, which immediately sprang upon him, and tore him to pieces, as a punishment for his guilt. The moment that the case of the criminal was thus decided, doleful iron bells were clanged, great wails went up from the hired mourners posted on the outer rim of the arena, and the vast audience, with bowed heads and downcast hearts, wended slowly their homeward way, mourning greatly that one so young and fair, or so old and respected, should have merited so dire a fate.

But, if the accused person opened the other door, there came forth from it a lady, the most suitable to his years and station that his majesty could select among his fair subjects; and to this lady he was immediately married, as a reward of his innocence. It mattered not that he might already possess a wife and family, or that his affections might be engaged upon an object of his own selection: the king allowed no such subordinate arrangements to interfere with his great scheme of retribution and reward. The exercises, as in the other instance, took place immediately, and in the arena. Another door opened beneath the king, and a priest, followed by a band of choristers' and dancing maidens blowing joyous airs on golden horns and treading a measure, advanced to where the pair stood side by side; and the wedding was promptly and cheerily solemnized. Then the gay brass bells rang forth their merry peals, the people shouted glad hurrahs, and the innocent man, preceded by children strewing flowers on his path, led his bride to his home.

Dative Case
The Dative is used to mark the indirect object in the sentence or phrase, that is, the recipient or "benefactor" of the action.

After a class discussion on the media’s treatment of famous people, your teacher has asked you to write an essay, giving your opinions on the following statement:
“Famous people, such as politicians and film stars, deserve to have a private life without journalists following them all the time”.

I think that famous people like politicians should be followed by journalists, because the public deserve to be informed about their activities since politicians are very important in the running of the country and because the public vote for them when its time for the elections. If someone behaves badly or has problems involving drugs or alcohol, for example, they do not deserve to be a politician. Some politicians are corrupt and people should know about it if it happens. On the other side, there can be a lot of fake journalism which gives the public false information and this can have a huge impact on a politician's life. If somebody chooses to be a politician, they rely on the publicity from journalists and I think that the majority of them agree with that.
As for film stars, I think that movies influence people's lives a lot. Nowadays, a lot of people watch movies and they are interested in the life's of the actors that they have seen in movies. I think that it is good for actors to be followed , because the more they are followed, the more famous they become and the more roles they get hired to play and this increases their reputation.

The Genitive Case:
-The genitive case is most commonly used......to indicate possession.

If you are coming from a place...
...put that place in genetive case.

The Instrumental Case (Instrumentalis):
-The instrumental case translates as "with something." In some cases, the preposition "s" is present. This means"with" as in "bread with butter" "cereal with milk," etc. In most cases, however, you omit the "s".

The Dative Case:
-The dative case is used for indirect objects. This is not the only thing it is used for, and, therefore, I find it useful to simply translate all instances of the dative case as "to noun," as in "to me," or "to my brother," and this is a pretty comprehensive method.

하이 ~~ 모두 안녕하세요? 토요일 잘 보내셨어요? 저요? 저는 토요일을 어떻게 보냈냐고요? 하하~~ 진짜로 엄청나게 게으른 하루였답니다.
저의 토요일에 대해서 말씀 드릴게요. 아주 늦~~게 일어나서, 온 종일 집에 있었답니다. 집 밖에는 한 발자국도 나가지 않았어요.하하~~ 상상이 가세요? 가끔은 엄청난 게으름뱅이가 되어 보는 것도 나름 괜찮은 듯 해요.
남편과 아주 간단한 아점을 먹었습니다. 그 다음에는 소파에 길게 누워 온갖 지나간 신문들을 다 뒤적였답니다. 그리고는 또다시 늦은 오후의 달콤한 낮잠을 잤지요.
그리고 이제 이 늦은 밤에 여기 lang-8에 들어 와서 여기 저기 친구들의 다양한 일기들을 읽어 보고 있답니다. 그래서 지금은 오늘밤 늦게까지 잠 자지 못할까 약간 걱정이 됩니다. 왜냐하면 이미 잠은 충분히 잤거든요.

그건 그렇고, 아래 글은 제가 메일로 받은 글인데 여러분께 들려 드리려고 한국어로 녹음을 했어요. 제가 영어로 번역 하려니까 좀 어려워서 그냥 한국어로 쓰고 녹음만 해 드립니다. 저와 모든 친구들을 위해 영어로 번역해 주실 분이 계시면 부탁 드립니다.

这一天我起得非常晚，一整天都待在家，门外呢，一步也没出去（／出门）了。

今天跟丈夫一起吃了很简单的早+午餐（一边早饭一边午饭）。
然后整天在沙发上躺着翻阅着看看所有的过期的报纸/（过期的所有报纸？）。
然后又睡了晚晚的甜（密的）午觉。
然后，现在这个深夜里，我来这个lang-8网站 找找所有朋友们的日记正在阅读呢。
所以我有点担心恐怕今晚睡不着（/=睡不好觉）。 因为我已经睡得很充足！

好！那么，下边的文章是今天在我的电子邮件里看到的，为了学韩文的朋友们我特意录音了。
本来我想翻译成英文（中文），不过这对我来说不太容易的，所以只能用韩文写和录音罢了。

It's late at night. I hope everyone rested well this Sunday. I am now trying to rewrite my English entry from yesterday into Chinese, and recorded it in Korean too. I hope my recording can help friends who are learning Korean. ( ***Thank you for reading and correcting my article.*** )
~~~~♪♪♪~~~~~~~~~~~~~♪♪♪~~~~♪♪~~~~~~~~~This morning was veiled by a gauzy mist.
The sight of the children`s attending school in the warm, soft mist made me think of a spring morning, but the tree leaves on the road ensured me that it is (in fact) late fall .
I posted two pictures which I took while walking with my friend this afternoon.
She sent me a text message and asked me to have lunch together /...(She sent me a text messagemessage: 'Let's have lunch together.')
so I went to her house had a very simple lunch of ddeok and ramen (ramen with rice cake).
After that, we walked outside around her apartment, and enjoyed the beautiful fall moment. We walked, each with a cup of coffee in our hands, talking carefree into the afternoon.
It was a nice and easy feeling walking without a worry in the world, slowly passing under the yellow and red leaves.
In this way, Nature always gives / always bestows us a gift, and we use it to welcome peace of mind and to comfort our bodies.

아이들의 등교하는 모습이 마치 포근한 봄날 같은 느낌이었으나,
도로변의 나뭇잎은 지금이 깊은 가을(만추)임을 확연히 알려 주고 있었다.

나머지 두 장 사진은 오늘 오후 친구와 산책할 때 찍은 것이다.
그 친구가 오늘 낮 점심식사를 같이 하자고 해서, 그 친구 집에서 떡라면으로 점심을 간단히 먹었다.
그리고 바로 아파트 주변을 걸으며 이 아름다운 가을을 감상했다.
커피 한잔을 들고 마음속 이야기를 나누며 느긋하게 산책을 했다.
노란 잎 빨간 잎들 아래로 천천히 걸으니 정말 편안하고 기분이 좋았다.

자연은 이러한 방법을 통하여 늘 우리들에게 선물을 주고 있으며,
우리들은 이런 자연의 선물로써 몸과 마음의 휴식과 위안을 얻는다

今天早晨的空气里弥漫[mí màn]着轻薄的雾气。
在孩子们上学的路上，薄雾加上暖和的空气，给我一种春天的感觉。
不过路两边的树叶告诉我们，现在已经是深秋了。
其它两张照片是我今天下午跟朋友散步的时候拍的。
那位朋友叫我一起吃午饭,我们在她家里简单地煮了年糕方便面吃。
饭后，我们马上出门，在这个小区/公寓附近转了转，欣赏秋天的风景。
我们一人拿着一杯咖啡，一边喝着，一边聊着心事，一起慢慢地散步。
在黄叶红叶下边慢慢散步的感觉挺好，很轻松而很舒服。

大自然总是通过这种方式送给我们美丽的礼物。
人们都是通过大自然送给我们的这种礼物，来得到身心的放松和安慰吧。

The Simpsons is an animated show which has a colourful history and a great influence on the present mass culture. The creator of the famous family is an American cartoonist, Matt Groening. It’s amazing but he invented the Simpsons in 15 minutes. Matt Groening named the characters after his own family members. The head of the family is a fat and lazy Homer. He is married to Marge, an ordinary American housewife. They have three children: Bart, a ten-year-old troublemaker; Lisa, an eight-year-old genius girl and Maggie, a cute, silent baby.
The family firstly appeared in The Tracey Ullman Show in a short episode in 1987. In 1989 Fox Channel showed a half-an-hour Christmas episode. Today the cartoon series are very successful. There are a lot of comics, books and even computer games about Simpsons. The Simpsons show is still popular because it makes fun of anything in our present life: movies , music, politics and historical events. What is more important: it makes people around the world laugh.

The Addams family is perhaps one of the most spooky and bizarre families in the mass media. The inventor of the family was an American cartoonist Charles Addams. The Addams Family firstly appeared as a series of cartoons, published in The New Yorker magazine in 1938. Now after several decades you can see the legendary family in black-and-white TV series which appeared in 1964, 3 motion pictures, animated cartoons and even a musical.
The heads of the family are naïve and handsome Gomez and subtle and sensual Morticia Addams. Originally they had two children: a serious daughter Wednesday and a playful son Pugsley. Other members of the family who lived with Gomez and Morticia included devilish Uncle Fester and Grandma Frump, a funny witch. Another member of the family is the hand named "Thing". In addition to Thing, the Addams family also had a tall, scary servant - Lurch.
This unusual family is still considered to be a satirical image of an ideal family. It’s success lies in its originality and witty humour of the main characters.
