Good-bye, Betty (November 3, 2013). She left us a while ago. To be more accurate, at around 3:40 AM on Sunday November 3, 2013, beside me. My husband was sleeping in the bedroom and my son was out with his friends. I was alone next to her in the living room. Betty suddenly stretched her legs three or four times and breathed hard. I quickly gave her legs and shoulders a massage while calling her name. I just hoped that she could hear my voice and could feel the touch of my warm hand, because I believed it would help her leave peacefully. Then after- she stopped breathing. I believe she heard my voice, and she felt the feeling of my warm hand, so she could leave peacefully and happily. My husband heard my loud voice, came out and said "Thanks Betty for having been with us for such a long time. Thank you." I am thankful for Betty. She brought my family happiness for around 14 years and gave us a warm friendship, and now she left her son Jjang-a with my family. She was so wise and grateful. She just slept for 5 days (1 day at hospital, 4 days at home), and chose to leave on Sunday dawn.
How thoughtful she was! Betty understood everything about our family. Thank you Betty! Good bye, Betty! I'll miss you, Betty! You were so lovely, and really wonderful my friend!

Farewell Betty#2(October 30, 2013) Today at about noon, I went to see a vet. The vet did a blood test, an ultrasound, and X-ray examination on Betty. The vet said Betty is old that her kidney is worse now; however, she is too old to go on dialysis. According to him, I should probably prepare myself if Betty pass away. Anyway, Betty is staying at the hospital tonight, and she is on an IV right now all alone at hospital . However, I'll take her home tomorrow as soon as possible. The room where Betty was didn't seem very good. Betty has to stay in a small wire mesh under a dark light, and even worse there were other barking dogs. I think that Betty is probably scared tonight. I''m so sad. I think she would rest better at home with my family. I feel it's a better way for her to go. Even worse, it seems that there is no good way get Betty better right now. I'm so so sorry Betty. Tonight, I left you alone in a scary dark room. Even worse, I had a fender bender on the way home from hospital. Maybe it was because I was crying because of Betty at that time, so it impeded my concentration. Today was so long. I'm just waiting for tomorrow.

Say Goodbye #1(October 29, 2013 23:42): Did you ever have a dog die that had been with you for a long time? Have you ever had a dog that had been with you for a long time? Have you ever seen your dog, which had been with you a long time, die? Is there anyone who has had a dog for a long time, and then it died?
How long was your dog bedridden? How long did he/she go without eating food? Did he/she hurt much? My Betty is lying down, doesn't walk, and has kept her eyes closed for about two days. She has been living with our family for 13 years and 8 months. I think she is preparing to go soon, but I'm not sure. Today, I went out and let her lie on the front passenger seat. In this way, she would get more fresh air. It seems as if she has become a baby, since I hold and carry her in my bosom.

On Saturday November 9, 2013, we went to climb Buk-Han mountain to enjoy the late autumn atmosphere before it passed by. We met at Sungshin Women's Univ. Station, (subway line 4) then took bus #162 and got off at the last stop. Who were 'we'? There were five of us, my husband and I, his friend's couple and their son. Anyway, we walked along the Jeongneung valley to arrived at 'Bogungmun'. All of us marveled at the fall foliage of the Jeongneung Valley. The red and yellow leaves were so beautiful.
We departed from Jeongneung(정릉) and climbed to Bogungmun(보국문). Then we passed through Bogungmun(보국문) and arrived at Deadongmun(대동문) . We ate light snacks which is gimbap (김밥) fruits( 과일) and rice cake( 떡). It's really lucky that Seoul has such a wonderful mountain in a city. We realized how wonderful it is that Seoul has a Bukhan mountain in a city. Everyone, enjoy your autumn!
( If you are "down under" Enjoy your your Spring!)
