I got a job offer from an American recently. I accepted it because it's the kind of work I like to do. This is my first time working with Americans.

Actually, I studied Education and Public Administration in Korea. After graduating from college, I taught some middle school students as a private teacher. When I came to the US after getting married, I worked for the newspaper as a journalist translating business news from English to Korean. The boss was Korean, so I didn’t have any trouble communicating with him. After giving birth, I quit that job to care of my daughter. Staying home for almost 4 years, I couldn’t do anything to improve myself, so I often felt unsure of what I would be able to do in the US.

At present, I have time to study English and read some books as my two kids are growing up. Whenever I’ve had time to spare, I’ve practiced writing and speaking in English. In the meantime, I got a job offer from an American. She wanted me to help make her Korean blog. I've made my English resume to send to someone for the first time in my life. I’m so pleased that someone else needs me, and I’ll be rewarded for what I did. For me, working in the US means an opportunity to develop myself.

Oh~outside the window, there is a really wonderful May sunshine!

So~~,Now~~, I am going to tell you about yesterday my ‘stupid Babgbang story”.

Yesterday I went to see my son. Yes!i have son, and he is a korean soildier now. Are you surprised? Hahaa~~~ I am already an old mom.^_____^♪
You know? You know? Maybe some people don`t know and others already know. As a normal and healthy Korean man, you should join the army.
(= Normal and healthy Korean man have to join the army.)
Anyway , yesterday I went to see him just by myself. Because my husbad went to Beijing the day before yesterday. So I felt afraid of /worried about driving there by myself , afraid of driving there by myself. ( worried about driving there by myself.)
Because, for me, it was the first time driving there. But fortunately, there wasn’t any problem. I arrived at the entrance of the army/military base.
When, where and what kind of stupid thing happened?
I arrived at that guard post very safely, then I had to change my identification card into a visiting card.
So the guide soldier let me stop in front of an obstacle.
So~~ after I got an admission card, I started up my car again to go through the entrance ,WHAT?
It was the sound of air escaping from my tire.
Yeah~~those guide soldieres also ran to my car and looked surprised.
We saw what was going on ~*__*;;;;Okkk!Akkkk! My tire was flat!
I should just call the insurance company and let them help me as soon as possible.
My son also went out for me,and looked at tire.
Then ? He heaved a sigh ~and just said “MoM! @_@;;
So, it was OK! It wasn’t too bad! Insurance man changed my flat tire.
Then, my son and I had a spring meeting in the army’s garden.
There was a BIG BIG cherry tree in the garden under that tree we ate rice cake.
And took a walk along a small stream by the mountain.
Sure/Of course Betty and Jang-ah also took walk together.
Who is Betty?….Who is Jang-ah? They are my dogs.

1) Spend the time! 시간을 할애 하세요.
By far the most important factor is how much time you are immersed in the language. The more time you spend with the language, the faster you will learn. This means listening, reading, writing, speaking, and studying words and phrases. This does not mean sitting in class looking out the window, nor listening to other students who do not speak well, nor getting explanations in your own language about how the language works. This means spending time enjoyably connected to the language you are learning.

2) Listen and read every day! 날마다 읽고 들으세요!
Listen wherever you are on your MP3 player. Read what you are listening to. Listen to and read things that you like, things that you can mostly understand, or even partly understand. If you keep listening and reading you will get used to the language. One hour of listening or reading is more effective than many hours of class time.

3) Focus on words and phrases! 단어와 구절에 집중하세요!
Build up your vocabulary, you’ll need lots. Start to notice words and how they come together as phrases. Learn these words and phrases through your listening and reading. Read online, using online dictionaries, and make your own vocabulary lists for review. Soon you will run into your new words and phrases elsewhere. Gradually you will be able to use them. Do not worry about how accurately you speak until you have accumulated a plenty of words through listening and reading.

4) Take responsibility for your own learning! 당신의 배움에 대해 책임감을 가지세요.

If you do not want to learn the language, you won’t. If you do want to learn the language, take control. Choose content of interest, that you want to listen to and read. Seek out the words and phrases that you need to understand your listening and reading. Do not wait for someone else to show you the language, nor to tell you what to do. Discover the language by yourself, like a child growing up. Talk when you feel like it. Write when you feel like it. A teacher cannot teach you to become fluent, but you can learn to become fluent if you want to.

5) Relax and enjoy yourself! 느긋하게 당신 자신을 즐기세요!
Do not worry about what you cannot remember, or cannot yet understand, or cannot yet say. It does not matter. You are learning and improving. The language will gradually become clearer in your brain, but this will happen on a schedule that you cannot control. So sit back and enjoy. Just make sure you spend enough time with the language. That is the greatest guarantee of success.

(May 27th 2011)Nervous? or not Pleasure? ???-
Hi everybody! It`s a Saturday evening, and today I’m feeling pretty relaxed. This Saturday, I didn`t need to get up early in the morning, and didn`t need to go out to do anything, so I’ve just stayed in and relaxed in a very lazy manner, laying down on the sofa and reading newspapers. I also read last year`s May entries with lang-8 friends`corrections. As I said already, my English is very poor, because I began learning English long time ago. However after I wrote Chinese entries on this lang-8 site, I felt writing English entries would also be good for my learning experience.
Even though every time I began to write English entries I used to feel a little nervous,I guess that it`s a good nervous feeling because it gives me more pleasure of learning something unknown.I don`t need to learn very fast, just want to learn slowly, steadily and leisurely because it’s one of my wonderful hobbies. If I ask to learn very fast, maybe I will lose my real pleasure of learning and this hobby.
And besides, teaching someone who is learning Korean is also my hobby.
Therefore I am trying to write in Korean and record Korean at the same time, if I can.
Oh, this time in the evening the sun has moved to the west mountain, the sky has become an orange yellow, my husband is watching a baseball game on TV, and my dog Jjang-ah is sneezing under my feet.
