Christopher deCharms, another Singularity University speaker, runs Omneuron, a start-up in Menlo Park, Calif., that pushes the limits of brain imaging technology. He’s trying to pull information out of the brain via sensing systems, so that there can be some quantification of people’s levels of depression and pain.
“We are at the forefront today of being able to read out real information from the human brain of single individuals,” he tells the executives.
Preparing to Evolve
Richard A. Clarke, former head of counterterrorism at the National Security Council, has followed Mr. Kurzweil’s work and written a science-fiction thriller, “Breakpoint,” in which a group of terrorists try to halt the advance of technology. He sees major conflicts coming as the government and citizens try to wrap their heads around technology that’s just beginning to appear.
“There are enormous social and political issues that will arise,” Mr. Clarke says. “There are vast groups of people in society who believe the earth is 5,000 years old. If they want to slow down progress and prevent the world from changing around them and they engaged in political action or violence, then there will have to be some sort of decision point.”
Mr. Clarke says the government has a contingency plan for just about everything — including an attack by Canada — but has yet to think through the implications of techno-philosophies like the Singularity. (If it’s any consolation, Mr. Long of the Defense Department asked a flood of questions while attending Singularity University.)
Mr. Kurzweil himself acknowledges the possibility of grim outcomes from rapidly advancing technology but prefers to think positively. “Technological evolution is a continuation of biological evolution,” he says. “That is very much a natural process.”
To prepare for any rocky transitions from our benighted present to the techno-utopia of 2030 or so, a number of people tied to the Singularity movement have begun to build what they call “an education and protection framework.”

These days Korea is suffering from a drought.
I guess farmers feel most anxious, because these droughts make the crops in the field wholly / completely dry up.
So many crops suffer serious damage from this drought.
I hope it will be raining as soon as possible.

June 22.2012 <<Learning to Ride a Horse / Learning How to Ride a Horse>
Hi~ everyone, how are you all? This time I`ll talk about something that I saw yesterday.
In the late afternoon yesterday, I had an opportunity/ a chance/ to see how to learn riding a horse unexpectedly/by chance.
Actually / The fact is, it was like this...
I went to one of my friends` house in the late afternoon yesterday, then she invited me to go see/watch her daughter`s horse riding class.
I haven`t seen a horse riding lesson in progress, so I said I would love to go see this so-called "Riding horse park" following them.
At that time my Betty and Zzang-Ah(my two dogs) were staying in my car, so we couldn`t ride together in my friend's car, so I drove and followed her car instead.
To tell the truth, it wasn`t far from there,so we arrived in less than half an hour./ so it didn't take us half an hour to get there.
I realy didn`t imagine/know that there could be a place for horse riding close to a city.
Anyway, that riding horse park was near a small mountain, and it`s cleaner than I imagined,and also seemed a bit systematic.
Today I`m uploading some pictures and videos that I took
while my friend`s daughter was learning how to ride a horse/ during my friend's daughter's horse riding lessons.

In many ways, the most creative, challenging, and under-appreciated aspect of interaction design
is evaluating designs with people.
The insights that you’ll get from testing designs with people
can help you get new ideas, make changes, decide wisely, and fix bugs.
One reason I think design is such an interesting field is its relationship to truth and objectivity.
I find design so incredibly fascinating because we can say more in response to a question like:
“How can we measure success?” than “It’s just personal preference” or “Whatever feels right.”
At the same time, the answers are more complex and more open-ended, more subjective,
and require more wisdom than just a number like 7 or 3.
One of the things that we’re going to learn in this class
is the different kinds of knowledge that you can get out of different kinds of methods.
Why evaluate designs with people? Why learn about how people use interactive systems?
I think one major reason for this is that it can be difficult to tell how good a user interface is
until you’ve tried it out with actual users, and that’s because clients and designers and developers,
they may know too much about the domain and the user interface,
or have acquired blinders through designing and building the user interface.
At the same time they may not know enough about the user’s actual tasks.
And while experience and theory can help, it can still be hard to predict what real users will actually do.
You might want to know, “Can people figure out how to use it?”
or “Do they swear or giggle when using this interface?”
“How does this design compare to that design?”
and, “If we changed the interface, how does that change people’s behaviour?”
“What new practices might emerge?” “How do things change over time?”
These are all great questions to ask about an interface, and each will come from different methods.

（Jun 21, 2012）--<The Secret: How to Teach Them to Be a Gentleman/Lady?>---This is a picture that my son took with his phone, and sent to me with a text message in the late afternoon today / this late afternoon.Aren't they so cute?How cute they are!They are two schnauzers who are lying down flat/on their belly in front of Starbucks.It seems that they are waiting for their owner who is having a break time in Starbucks.
My son said that these two dogs were not sitting down on the side of the path, but they were lying down on the middle of the path as if they were in their own room. I also would like to teach my Betty and Zzang-ah to be a gentle man and lady like them, but my son said "It`s too late!I envy their owner. Oh, my dogs Betty and Zzang-ah are schnauzers as well, but how can I teach them? My Betty and Zzang-ah are naughty! I would ask that dogs` owner "How did you teach them tobe a gentleman/lady?".Do you have anygood idea? If you know anygood tips, please let me know it. *.^/

1. What are some reasons why people shouldn't smoke? What kind of sickness can you get? Why do people start smoking and can't stop?

Answer :

People should stop smoking because smoking can cause health problems, social problems and economic problems. It's already obvious that smoking can make people suffer some lethal diseases like cancer, cardiovascular disease and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). The effect of a smoking habit impairs our body especially our pulmonary system and blood stream. That 's because when people are smoking they inhale some chemical substances which are dangerous for our lungs. It can also worsen the inflammation of the airways in an asthma patient, damage our Alveoli, raises our blood pressure, accelerate the hardening and narrowing process in our arteries and so forth. It just doesn't stop there though, smoking has a potential role to cause social problems particularly between a smoker and non-smoker. Nowadays people are more aware about the effects of being a passive smoker which could be more dangerous than being an active smoker, hence some people become really sensitive and mind if there are any cigarettes lit up around them. Often times this issue can cause arguments and quarrels between them especially if the smoker is a careless person. Of course the unpleasant smell caused by smoking could be really be bothersome to some people. The economic problems could emerge when the smoker isn't able to afford his need to consume the cigarettes, therefor in order to fulfill their need they give up other assets in order to be financially able to buy cigarettes. I've met some people who even gave up their lunch money, and instead of buying a meal they use their lunch money for cigarettes. How stupid! .

Many people start smoking just to help their self looks 'cool', others because they feel stressed and in despair, and others don't even know their own reasons.Unfortunately those factors are also the reasons why they can't get rid this habit themselves. Nicotine is the substance in cigarette that makes them addictive, and when it enters the bloodstream it creates a stimulating effect in the brain. in other words, yes it can make people feel calm. So most people when they encounter stress and disappointment they end up lighting up their cigarette instead of facing and fixing their problem. Also the environment and their social life greatly influence their decision to keep smoking ot to stop. It's hard to give up smoking when we are being surrounded by our smoker buddies.
