Dear Sue

I’m your new pen friend. My name’s Brenda Taylor and I’m 13 and a student like you. I go to a Secondary School, called Kennedy School.
I’m writing from Miami where I live with my parents and two brothers, Steve and David. Steve is 16 and David is only 4. Steve attends my school and he loves playing basketball. He plays for the school team. David doesn’t go to school yet. He stays at school with a nanny and he likes playing with “Legos” and our dog, Goofey.
My parents don’t have much free time but they like gardening and going to the cinema. My father is a mechanic and my mother is a nurse.
My routine is very similar to yours. I always get up early because I love breakfast. It’s my favourite meal. I usually make pancakes and have a glass of orange juice. That’s my favourite way to start the day.
I always have lunch at school because Mum starts work at 8 o’clock every morning and she only comes back home at five. She only has one hour for lunch, so she usually eats something she takes from home: a sandwich and some fruit.
My favourite subjects are Music and Biology. I like sports and cinema but I love music! My favourite bands are Bon Jovi and Nirvana. I love animals, too. I would like to become a lawyer because I want to defend people’s rights in court.

Bank of Communications will launch a self-service solution allowing bank card users at any time to retrieve cards that have been forgotten or not returned by automatic teller machines (ATMs), the bank said in a statement this week.

The service will soon be rolled out for the bank’s ATMs nationwide. The first group of machines upgraded with the new service are located at such places as airports, railway and bus stations, and hospitals, where people often forget their cards after cash withdrawals, said BoCom.

Last year, the bank launched a way for customers to get back retained cards from its ATMs within 90 seconds using the card’s pin number.

The new service extends the time span and allows customers to get back the cards from the machine whenever they want. A text message will be sent to BoCom customers as a reminder after the card was retained. Customers can follow the instructions on the machine to retrieve the card using the last four digits and the pin number of the card.

I enjoy being active. I wouldn't want to sit on a beach and look out at the ocean all day. Cycling tours with a small rucksack and a tent are more my cup of tea.

I save all my money to be able to pay for a luxurious holiday in the Caribbean once a year. It has to be really 'posh' with a fancy hotel, cocktails and expensive food. I'd die if I had to spend even one night at a guest house.

I don't know if anybody except me would call my trips 'holiday'. I am part of an organization that sends people to third world countries, for example in Africa, and help building houses or schools. You can't really say that it's relaxing but it certainly gives me a good feeling - knowing that I have helped people who need help.

My ideal holiday? Well, I think it has to be something very quiet with only a few people around. I have such a busy job so I enjoy not meeting anybody.

Learning something about different culture is very important to me so I haven't visited a country twice until now. It is my goal to see every country in the world. I prefer city tours as I like to visit the opera, museums or art galleries.

I went on a cruise last year and I loved it. It was a special journey for teenagers. We hung out all day and partied the night away. Then we slept till noon. It was so much fun!

George, I'm afraid I can't make it to the cinema tonight. My parents have to work late and I will have to look after Calvin - again. I think he is old enough to stay at home alone now, but my parents don't. What about watching the movie tomorrow?
