道元（どうげん）は、鎌倉時代初期の禅僧。日本曹洞宗の開祖。晩年に希玄という異称も用いた。同宗旨では高祖と尊称される。諡号は、仏性伝東国師、承陽大師。一般には道元禅師と呼ばれる。
徒（いたずら）に見性を追い求めず、座禅している姿そのものが仏であり、修行の中に悟りがあるという修証一等、只管打坐の禅を伝えた。『正法眼蔵』は、和辻哲郎、ハイデッガーなど西洋哲学の研究家からも注目を集め続けている。
