Note to recorder:

It would be very helpful if you could read it twice - once very slowly and then again just a little slower than normal. (MP3 preferred). Thanks!

This is my attempt at translation:

Little girl gathering mushrooms.

Little girl gathering mushrooms with a big bamboo basket on her back,
Roaming the forests and hills barefoot, in the early morning.
She gathers so many mushrooms,
As many as those countless stars,
She gathers the biggest mushrooms,
Filling the basket like little umbrellas.

Who doesn't know this scent of mountain mushrooms ?
Yet she won't nibble any.
She gathers until going to market that day
Quickly carries them to the fair
Trades them for a little sickle
And some lollipops too,
Together with that little companion,
Come to share the happiness of labour.

Thanks Gavin,
I've found a whole album of this kind of song at 1ting.com - it's a nice change from the usual lessons.
