How to tell a story with data.

With the growing amount of data available to us today, data visualisation is becoming more and more important.

How do you create data graphics that mean something?

Let´s go through the basics.

First, you need the data.
Data drives your story and the design of your graphics.

Got your data? Good!

Now; what do you wanna (want to) know about it?

Let your questions help you (to) decide what tools to use ... and where to start exploring.

Search for trends, patterns and differences across categories, space and time.

After all (of) your digging ... have you found the story your data has to tell?

If so, it´s time to put together your
finished graphic.

Design with a purpose. Consider your audience. Keep it readable, and use appropriate colours, shapes and sizes to tell a clear and interesting story.

And there you have it ... ready for more?

Visualise this!
