Ellen: Hey Amanda!
Amanda: Hey.
Ellen: We have not met before, is that right?
Amanda: T-that's totally true.
Ellen: I feel like sometimes I say we haven't met and somebody says "oh yeah, we met at a party" - but we have not met.
Amanda: No, I-I have not met you - no, we've not met.
Ellen: Alright, well nice to meet you.
Amanda: Well, we're meeting now.
Ellen: Yes, we are now. Hi, nice to meet you, Hi. Did you bring me a gift, 'cuz I like you now a lot, if you brought me a gift. Who doesn't like gifts?
Amanda: I-I get oft- I dunno sometimes I don't like gifts.
Ellen: Really?
Amanda: Yeah, 'cuz then it's like they watch you open it, and it's like what if you don't like it, and you feel responsible for reacting in the way that you think they'd want you reacting.
Ellen: You're right. Don't give me that, I may not like it.
Amanda: Oh just take it!
Ellen: Alright. I understand what you're talking about though, it's a lot of pressure.
Amanda: It is!
Ellen: 'cuz you have to act like you like it. Love it! What is it? It's a hat.
Amanda: I made it.
Ellen: No, you didn't.
Amanda: I did, I made it.
Ellen: No you didn't! No you didn't!
Amanda: I did, I swear I made it!
Ellen: Really?!
Amanda: Yeah...I have to say, this movie that we just showed a clip for, I made twenty hats, in like two weeks, because I was just trying to finish everyone's wrap gifts.
Ellen: This is really impressive.
Amanda: Thanks.
Ellen: This is uh-
Amanda: it's long.
Ellen: This is uh, it's a big hat, it's not like a use-uh it's very uh, it's not like a tiny little thing.
Amanda: It's not.
Ellen: It looks like it took time.
Amanda: It-t d-d-did, three hours maybe.
Ellen: Really?
Amanda: Yeah, but like you don't do it like straight.
Ellen: Right, and-and-and you knit a lot?
Amanda: I knit, constantly.
Ellen: Mhm.
Amanda: I think it's just, a form of therapy really, I just need to admit it. But it's amazing, you're here always busy and you're making something for somebody.
Ellen: Like where do you do this?
Amanda: I do it um, I do it on the elliptical machine.
Ellen: While you're working out?
Amanda: While I'm working out, it's like I-I'm very mult-I'm a ss-I need to multitask.
Ellen: Uh huh.
Amanda: And I feel like I'm getting - you know my sweat on, and I'm also getting my knit on, and sometimes I'll add a third element-
Ellen: Like what?
Amanda: Which is listening to books on tape.
Ellen: Wow, that is a lot at once.
Amanda: Yeah.
Ellen: That's every impressive that you get the workout done, you-you're making now ha-if you do this all the time, you're giving these away all the time?
Amanda: Yeah, I mean I have a little bit of a collection, but yeah they're usually for somebody. I have to think about who I'm making it for when I'm doing it.
Ellen: I am definitely unaware of this, I appreciate it.
Amanda: Yes!
Ellen: And-and, it's uh, i-it and there's a little glittery things it's like some - some more than just uh-
Amanda: It's this new yarn. It's alpaca, and it's got like sparkle to it.
Ellen: I've never seen a sparkly alpaca in my life. Like in the wild there's sparkly alpaca out there?
Amanda: I mean, you never know.
Ellen: Yeah...
Amanda: I-I don't ask too many questions.
Ellen: Well I am, that's why I have a show, I ask a lot of question.
Amanda: I know. It's true.
Ellen: So I got you something too 'cuz I heard you were going to do this. Tha-it goes both ways.
Amanda: Yeah.
Ellen: You-you uh knitted me something, I knitted you something. I'm not as good as you, alright? I'll say that right now. But I knitted you some Ellen underwear.
Amanda: I-Oh my God! I can't believe it. I just need-a. I can't even believe it. I-I have to put these on right now.
Ellen: Right, then I'll put your hat on.
Amanda: Wow this is incredible, I-I honestly I've dream about this for so long, and it's really happening man. I wish I would've worn pants like you. God this is really stunning. I mean, I think you did such a great job.
Ellen: Thanks.
Amanda: Mine was so much more difficult than yours.
Ellen: You're not gonna be able to show, they have holes all over them.
Amanda: No, it's good it fits really well. Oh my God I-I'm not as small as that, but it's incredible thanks.
Ellen: That's great, thanks.
Amanda: Wow it's like my world has changed.
Ellen: Yes, so you did this in three hours...that took me three years.
Amanda: How did you know?
Ellen: It's the power of intention. I was like, I am going to meet her. I saw Mean Girls and Mamma Mia and I was like, everyday every movie it was getting closer and closer. She's going to be on my show one day.
Amanda: Oh my God here I am.
Ellen: And here you are.
