Interviewer: Dakota, what do you think of all the attention that you're getting as an actress?

Dakota: You know, I just have so much fun with what I do, and I just love it so much.

I: You have been working with a lot of big stars. Who's your favourite star to work with?

D: I don't know if I can ever pick my favourite. They all have been so nice and so great, and I've done different kinds of movies with them, so I love them all.

I: Tell me about Dreamer. What's the story about?

D: Well Dreamer, it's about (you know) three generations of horsemen and one of me. *laughs* And my father is a horse trainer and I just love everything to do with horses, and my father has kinda had some bad luck in the horse business, and he's kind of trying to push me out of it, but I love it so much and I'm determined to get into the business, and there's this one horse kinda brings our whole family together.

I: Your character really had a connection with Sonya. Tell me about that.

D: Well, I think my character really believed in that horse and she knew that she could (you know) race again. And because of my belief in her, (she kind of…) they both had a really special bond.

I: How much preparations did you do in learning about horses for this movie?

D: (You know) I get a lot of weeks of training, and riding, and learning about racing, and all that goes along with taking care of horses, and all that stuff, so it was fun and very interesting.

I: Had you been on a horse before this movie?

D: No, I hadn't. This is my first time. (So,) My grandmother grew up on a 400 acre farm, with a lot of horses on there, so I heard stories about them but I never had ridden one.

I: And this movie really brought out a love for horses, didn't it, for you?

D: Definetley, I have a horse now. (now, um) Kurt gave me a horse named Goldie. (he he he)

I: That was a pretty special thing because you we're planning on buying a horse, right?

D: Well, I just, had always, after the movie I was just, I wanted one and I was thinking 'Oh, If I ever got a horse it would be a Palomino' but I wasn't planning on buying one, and then Kurt got one for me so..

I: Tell me about your horse.

D: Um, It's a Palomino, quarter horse, named Goldie, and I've had him for about a year now, and he's five.

I: How often do you get a chance to ride him?

D: Every weekend, I go ride.

I: Oh that's great.

D: He had to be evacuated though, In California, (be)cause there was some wildfires (I: from the fires, okay.) the horse had to be evacuated, I was so worried.

I: Okay, um, Yell me about what it was like to work with Kurt Russel and Kris Kristofferson.

D: You know, it was incredible, I mean to work with someone who is so, (I mean) two people that are so amazing, and (you know) Kris is such a legend in music and in acting so to work with him was just like, double amazing and, to work with Kurt was just insanely incredible (be)cause he's so, such an amazing actor, he's been working for so long.

I: mm-hmm, now, This movie was more than just a story about a horse, isn't it? It's about relationships.

D: Definitely, it's about relationships of you know the different people in the film and, I think its such a special movie that everyone can go see and, everybody will take away you know a nice a meaning and when you walk out of the theater you just really feel good about yourself.

I: Did you become a horse racing fan as a result of this? Do you watch horse races now?

D: I think we've always kind of watched, you know, the Kentucky Derby and, you know, everything like that. We've always watched that, but I'm definitely a little more interested now

I: Urm, let me ask you about, errr, having this movie shown at the Heartland film festival here in Indianapolis. What does that mean to you?

D: Oh its so exciting. I'm so glad that we're here and, urm, that's its being shown here at the festival. It's so nice and I'm so happy for everyone to get to see it.

I: You're eleven?

D: Yes

I: You've accomplished so much as an eleven year old. What are you goals as an actress?

D: Urm, you know, I think I just want to keep acting forever, and get to do, you know, different parts with different characters or get to do lots of things that I wouldn't get to do in my own life.

I: Ok so my two daughters, two, I've got three kids, but two of my daughters, my fourteen year old wants to know, what's it like to work with a big star? You've worked with many big stars, she wants to know what its like

D: You know, they're always just so nice, you feel so comfortable around them and I'm always so excited to meet them and especially with Kurt. Kurt, he became like my family

I: And my twelve year old girl wants to know which actress do you most admire?

D: Jodie Foster

I: Why's that?

D: Well she was my age when she started out, my age. She started out my age and as an adult she was acting and now she kind of directs and I would love to be like her
