BLOBFISH: We love you!

The blobfish isn’t the most beautiful fish on the planet and it isn’t the most common. It’s a dull colour and you don’t usually see it because it lives 1,000 metres under the seas near Australia.

But now the blobfish is famous because people say that it’s the ugliest animal in the world. There are photos and articles about it in magazines and on the internet. This is really good for the blobfish and for other ‘ugly’ animals. But why?

Every year, thousands of species of animals become extinct. We often see information about the most interesting, the most beautiful and the most colourful, such as whales, butterflies or pandas. But some of the ugliest animals are also some of the rarest, and they also need our help.

On lists of the world’s ‘ugliest’ animals, the blobfish is often number one, but there are other fantastic creatures on the lists. For example, the monkey with the biggest nose (the proboscis monkey) and the frog with the weirdest face (the purple frog).
Are they really ugly? No, they’re interesting and rare. The best idea is to protect all animals.

When is the best time to visit?

The hottest season is from May to September. The warmest month is July with an average maximum temperature of 33°C. The coldest month is January with an average maximum temperature of 19°C. The best time to explore Cúc Phương National Park is the dry season, from December to April.

Are there any mountains?

Yes. There are many limestone mountains. The highest peak is Mây Bạc with 648 metres above sea level.

What animals can I see?

There are more than 300 species of birds and 135 mammal species. The most interesting animal is the Delacour’s Langur, one of the rarest primates on earth.

In winter, have fun !

Owing to the nanosize and lipid bilayer membranes of exosomes, liposomes hold great potentials for mimicking exosomal structure.
U87-MG cells-derived exosomes were prepared from supernatant of cells culture.
Liposomes (Lipo) were synthesized by the thin layer evaporation followed by the extrusion method.
To form protein corona in vitro, nanoparticles were incubated directly with fetal bovine serum at 37℃ for 1h.
Biodistribution and antitumor studies were performed in vivo in mice with GBM.
Results demonstrated that EM could mimic exosomes closely in regards to size and protein markers.
Collectively, these results demonstrated that EM absorbed fewer proteins than Lipo and Ang modification has little influence in the protein corona formation.
Free DTX exhibited limited suppression of tumor growth in GBM-bearing mice, while DTX@Ang-EM showed the most significant suppression of GBM growth
In this study, they developed an EM by integrating cell membrane proteins into liposomes as a biomimetic drug delivery system for brain tumor drug delivery.
Ang-EM provided a promising delivery platform for targeted brain drug delivery and GBM therapy.
