I prepare for a role of a graverobber from 1700s. It's an amateur play and will be enacted in Budapest, so even though I want to use cockney, I want to be understood and clear, to let the audience understand the story. Please do a Cockney accent from this time (2000s).
Please make a short pause (2-3 sec) between the lines. Thank you!
Is anyone here? Anyone? This place is deserted. It has to be.
I think we’re alone. No one’s been around this place for years from the looks of it.
No fire. (short stop) If anyone’s following us the smoke will lead them right to us.
Hard to say.
No.
These mountain storms, they’re nothing you want to get caught up in. We’ll lay low until the storm breaks.
What?
Just feels like something isn’t right.
Let’s just get some rest. The second the sun comes out, we’re gonna put some distance between ourselves and anyone who might be following us.
No, no one takes watch tonight. We’re exhausted. We need to rest. We can’t afford to be slow tomorrow.
If they track us here, it’s already over. They’ll surround the house. We won’t be able to get out. Besides, when the storm hits, they won’t be chasing us. They’ll be looking for shelter instead.
No. Don’t believe in no curse.
I just wanna make sure he’s in one piece.
There you are William. As soon as we deliver you, we’ll be made rich.
You’re too superstitious.
I’m gonna look for a place to stash him, just in case they do come while we’re asleep. Don’t want to be caught red handed.
What?
Right….
I pulled up an old floorboard and––(sudden stop)
I'm afraid it isn't a cockney accent. I can't really do a cockney accent. I can do some accents, but not cockney. I did it in a standard British accent.
