紫色のリスは、パーシー・エマート（夫）さんとコニー・エマート（妻）さん夫妻の住む家の庭に設置された鳥の餌箱の餌を漁っていた。奥さんのコニーさんは以前にも紫リスを目撃していたというが、その時夫に話したところ「あーはいはい。紫のリスね。いたのね。はいはい」と軽く流されてしまったそうだ。
