Why do some people not like to buy things from other countries?
Well, I guess one reason would be that imported products tend to be quite a bit more expensive than domestically-made things. And as well as this, I suppose another reason is that a lot of people here aren’t all that familiar with many of the foreign brands, or indeed products, so they’re not exactly sure whether they would be worth buying or not.
And just to give you an example, at my local supermarket, they’ve got a section for imported goods, and it’s filled with all these various kinds of sauces and breakfast cereals, most of which I have absolutely no idea as to how they taste, or even how to eat them, for that matter. So there’s no way I’m gonna want to buy these things, and I guess this is probably the case with most other Vietnamese people as well.
