I’m Elisabeth Mclean. I’m the Human Resources director of an American firm that sells computer parts to multinationals like IBM and Microsoft. As the HR director, I’m part of senior management at the Dallas headquarters. My colleagues, Helen James, Chris Turner, John White and Anthony Carter, and I all answer to our CEO Bill Gillian, who happens to be the founder of the company. Of course, there is also Jane Fenton who assists the CEO as his secretary but we are not accountable to her although we work closely with her.
Helen is Marketing director. She is in charge of Advertising and Sales. The Sales department is in fact composed of two subdivisions, one for the West region and one for the East. Heading R&D, Chris is responsible for both Electronics and I.T.. The Production department includes Purchasing, Assembly and Quality; it’s headed by John. Last but not least, Anthony is taking care of Shipping.
Finally, the Human Resources department consists of two divisions. Recruitment & Training and Payroll & Benefits report to me but in reality we all work in the same open-space office!
