I watched the video whose title is “Haru tono tabi”.
The reason why I wanted to watch this video was a was a fortuitous event..
A few days ago I visited Naruko-onsen spa and stayed at Taisho-kan ryokan, a Japanese style hotel.
I knew about this movie and it was one of the movies I wished most to watch in the future.
When I went to the counter at the hotel there were some leaflets about this movie.
I asked the landlady of the hotel why there were these leaflets on the desk.
She answered that this hotel was the hotel used in the movie and that I would be staying at the same room where the great actor “Tatsuya Nakadai” stayed.
So soon after I got back to my house, I rented this video and watched it today.
The story of this movie is as follows.
There is an old ex-fisherman who lives with his granddaughter, named Haru, in a fishing village in Hokkaido.
One day they have an argument and she says that he should stay with his brother because she wants to go to Tokyo and live alone.
So the old man goes from his home with her and takes a trip to visit his sister and brothers.
After all his relatives refused to live with him, she makes a proposal to see her father who had divorced her mother when she was young.
Her father and his new wife propose to live with the old man, stepfather, and her.
But they refuse their proposal and go back to Hokkaido.
I had a deep sympathy for this stubborn old ex-fisherman while watching the video.
