"This suit is becoming to John."
This is not a used phrase. At least I've never heard it used. 'Becoming' tends to be more used in direct conversation. ie: "You look very becoming in that suit".

I instead said, "John looks nice in that suit".
You could also say "John looks well in that suit".

"Bake for 20 minutes or until *A* toothpick inserted in *THE / TO THE* center comes out clean".

"Have you taken my sleepers?"

This isn't right. 'Sleepers' are beams of wood laid horizontally on a train track!
Perhaps you meant 'pyjamas', ie: nightwear, or 'slippers', which are the laceless slip-on shoes people wear indoors ?

Also, even if "This suit is becoming to John" was a used phrase, it would be, "This suit is becoming ON John" (If you have the suit in your possession, or it's not on John)

or
"THAT suit is becoming on John"
(If John is wearing the suit, or it is not in your possession.)
