Did you know that more than 97 % of the water resources are kept in
seas and oceans? But this water is salted and we can’t use it to drink
or irrigate the cultivated fields like that.
We all know that water is needed to produce electricity. The hydro-
electric station generates electricity using a force generated by the
fall of the water, stimulating the turbines. This represents a cheap
source of electricity for many countries. For example, in Canada 66%
from the whole energetic capacity of the country and in Norway the
amount reaches 99%. It is amazing, isn ́t it?
Many countries use water from rivers or lakes in agriculture.
Engineers built special systems of transporting water at a long
distance from the river. These are called systems of irrigation. In
South California, an area with vast farms, 85% of the water resources
are used for irrigations. In Egypt all the cultivated fields depend on
irrigations.
My mom has always advised me that water is very important for us
and we must use it properly!
I remember when I was brushing my teeth and she used to warn me
about the open tap.
I still remember about that and I worry about the day we will be
short on water.
Be wise! Use it properly!
