All's fair in love and war
It's a perfect Winter's day - outside is cold, but the sky is cloudless and blue.
Which reminds me, next week, my husband turns fifty. This weekend, we're going to go to a restaurant with some friends to celebrate. I'm thinking of making a cake for him on the day, but haven't decided what kind I'll make yet. My husband likes carrot cake, but I've never made one before so I'm a little nervous. A walnut cake might be good too...
Anyway, I've also had a go at trying to write some tanka for him. As usual, they're nothing very serious, but since I've written them, I might as well post them.
Please accept my apologies.
"All's fair in love and war"
he says
stealing the blankets
Under the blankets
nothing can come between us
On the phone -
"I love you", I say.
"I know", you answer
doing a Hans Solo.
Strange sounds
from inside the car
"Don't worry Ma -
It's just Dad's music"
Hey, wait for me!
How about we give
walking side-by-side a go?
After all, it'd be a first.
