In the early 1970s, Hanson abandoned his terror-tactic subjects for a more subtle one. They seem to portray passive, isolated figures as victim of society and negative value. So, he makes Young shopper in 1973, Supermarket lady. These works contained strong social comment.
His characters are full-sized, modals on living modals to take the essentials and the natural of daily life. He transports some daily scene to immortalize them.

TECHNIQUE:
The works are cast from real people, replicated in fiberglass and reinforced with fiber resin. The skin is even painted with realistic veins and blemishes. The clothes come from second hand stores.

So, he doesn’t replace the action in the time, place… The scene can take place anywhere in the USA. He removes the scene’s characters to focus on loose action : the policeman strives a defenseless man on the ground.
