female voice, please
My name's Melissa Granger. I'm 14. I've lived in Richmond, Virginia, for 5 years now. I'd like to thank Make-A-Wish for what they have done for me. They've given hope, strength and happiness. I owe them my recovery!
They're just great ! Since their beginnings in 1980, this foundation has reached more than 250,000 suffering children around the world. Can you believe it ? They've achieved their goals thanks to nearly 25,000 volunteers. Mind you, for more than 30 years, they've helped us keep smiling and hoping the best for the future by making children's dreams come true.
As for me, I had always dreamed of being a bird ! So when I was in hospital feeling miserable, I made a wish. One of the nurses heard me and decided to help me. She contacted David Williams, "Make-A-Wish-Foundation's " CEO (Chief Executive Officer). And a month later I was up in the sky, paragliding ! Is it awesome !!
Since then, I've had a series of treatments and operations and I've recovered ! My family and I have sometimes lost hope, but thanks to David's foundation, we've come through it.
I've already thanked David for his help but I haven't had the opportunity so far to publicly express my gratitude. By posting a comment on this blog, I've somehow started to do so.
Why not join the team, whatever the means : by becoming a donor yourself, by giving your time and volunteering, or simply by promoting the foundation around you.
