Hello, my name is ......, I am 20 years old and I am in my second year and therefore my last year to prepare the DE of social and family intervention technician. This job consists of providing material, psychological and educational support, particularly for children. For me, the sense of contact is very important and essential. I am always very motivated in what I do and very involved in the tasks I do on a daily basis. I am also attentive and accessible to the people I meet every day.
For me, going abroad has fascinated me since I was a child. If I succeed to leave one year, it would be a dream come true. This one-year stay will inevitably have a positive impact on my life. I like new experiences that will change my daily life and influence my future. And then today speaking another language has become something very important. But this trip will also allow me to develop new skills and will help me a lot for my future.
I decided to go to Africa to participate in a humanitarian mission.
Why do you need to do a humanitarian mission in Africa?
Joining a humanitarian mission in Africa is a unique opportunity to discover the country through its people. Having real contacts with the population must be a real asset. Discovering a new culture and new landscapes is a real opportunity. Being involved in a humanitarian mission is also a good opportunity to work with people who need help. This will give me a broader perspective and a clearer vision of the future direction of work. Indeed, after my sabbatical year I can very well change my curriculum vitae for my future profession. It's very beneficial, because I know where I'm going and I wouldn't go the wrong way. I would be less likely to leave university or choose the wrong job.
I am of course very aware of the difficulties that this may involve. Leaving friends and family can be very difficult if you find yourself in a distant country, but I tell myself that my friends and family have been with me since I was born and that I will not leave for the rest of my life, I know very well that I will see them again one day or another. A sabbatical year is also very expensive, but thanks to you, it would allow me to reduce the cost of spending when I leave. I am also aware of the danger this poses even if I leave with an organization. Taking a sabbatical year is a real break in my curriculum and the pace of work I had acquired will be lost, but this year will bring me many other qualities, much more important in my future life. So it's not a huge concern for me.
This experience will allow me to improve my language skills and gain independence and significant work and life experience. Having done a sabbatical year is very promoted in a curriculum vitae. Employers may give more favourable consideration to the demands of sabbatical year students because they will have acquired many qualities over time. This may allow me to find a better career opportunity that I feel is more appropriate.
