New York City is situated in the northeast region of the United States of America, in the state of New York.
New York City is divided into five boroughs; Manhattan is in the centre, between the East River and the Hudson River. Brooklyn is in the southeast, the Bronx in the north, Queens in the east and Staten Island in the southwest.
There are also many neighbourhoods in Manhattan. For example, Times Square is situated between Midtown West and Midtown East. It is the world’s most visited tourist attraction where you can see the flashing lights, the mega stores and Broadway shows.
There is Central Park, the largest park in New York where you can have a break and go to the zoo! It is located between the Upper West Side and the Upper East Side, south of Harlem. You can ice skating in winter, or run, and have a picnic in summer or even go fishing in the lake.
And you can find the highest skyscrapers in the Financial district, like the One World Trade Centre, the Woolworth building or the One Liberty Plaza. The financial district is in the south of Manhattan.
