Carnitine acts as a ACTIVATOR (regulator, allosteric activator) of the CPT1 enzyme that FACILITATES the entrance of FATTY ACIDS in the MITOCHONDRIA. Carnitine also can act as a ACETYL-COA BUFFER inside the mitochondria. Increased _CHO (CARBOHYDRATE) oxidation during exercise increases the production of MALONYL-CoA that inhibits CPT1 enzyme.
