More than half of the songs by Queen were written by Freddie Mercury. He used to involve a wide range of genres in his writings, which included, among other styles, rockabilly, progressive rock, heavy metal, gospel, and disco. Even though Mercury used to write very intricate harmonies, he also claimed that he could barely read music.
