The professor wants to lecture on a theatrical movement arising in the early to mid-20th century known as Epic Theater, but she first discusses Naturalistic Theater in great detail. What is her main purpose of doing this?

In Naturalistic Theater there is empathy for the lives of the characters. However, Bertolt Brecht wanted to change this. What was the reasoning behind this theatrical practitioner’s philosophy?

Why does the professor mention the Verfremdungseffekt or alienation effect?

Brecht was against “catharsis”. Which description best describes catharsis? An audience member.......

According to the lecture, which of these would not be characteristic of the montage technique?

…purpose of doing this (Corrected to ‘purpose in doing this’)

I maintained the English pronunciation of Brecht’s name, but the German technical term was kept with that language’s pronunciation.
