Specifically, negatives effects were seen in detecting and responding correctly to road signs, detecting hazards and time spent with eyes off. Also, our brain is not capable of fully concentraing on two things at the same time. If you're texting or engaged in a cell phone conversation while driving that leaves your brain with less cognitive load to focus on driving. That's why your driving is not as good as it could be. Moreover, using a phone while driving slows reaction time more than being drunk. Distractions, along with alcohol and speeding, are now leading factores in fatal and serious injury crashes.
