Parler normalement.

I will now answer the question : « What did you think of the way the brittish gutter-press treated M. Jefferies ? »
Chris Jefferies is a retired English teacher. He lives alone his quiet little life. But he will be accused of the murder of Joanna Yeates, he was her landlord. As a result, the media will target him, and he will have the experience of "descent into hell."
As said Mark Thomson, a lawyer, "the media lynching is not an unusual phenomenon." The media have intruded into the privacy of Mr Jefferies and degraded his reputation. In tabloids such as : The Sun, The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror….etc, The media describe Mr Jefferies as a strange person, suspect, monstrous, sometimes as the murderer, while the trial didn't take place and there isn't any proof. They insist on the case using terms like : « weird », « lewd », « strange », « creepy », « angry », « odd », « disturbing », « eccentric », « a loner »,…in their articles.
The media not hesitate to make judgments, because they have arguments able to awaken the public interest. People like the sordid stories. A murder is perfect to awaken interest. That is to say, the story of a murderer is much more interesting for people than the story of a little old lady who knits sweaters for these grandchildren.
Moreover, they use everything to their advantage. For example, on the front cover, they not hesitate to choose a picture of Mr Jefferies where he seems scary. Or so that it is disturbing. Therefore, Chris Jefferies becomes the main suspect because of unjustified evidences.
In this way, his reputation was damaged, and will remain for some time. He is one of the regular witch hunt and character assassination conducted by the worst elements of the brittish tabloïd media. Mr Jefferies has been targeted, then dragged through the mud. The media acted shamelessly ! For me, those are the ones monsters.
For my part, I will be fairly direct, but in my opinion, the media didn't have to put their nose in this case. Or at least, they should have write about the trial, the progress of the investigation, new evidence... They should not have to play the role of the investigator, and let alone denigrate Chris Jefferies, this is not their job.
By acting in this way, the media can shatter a life because the consequences of their actions are heavy. However, Mr Jefferies launched legal actions against 8 tabloids seeking damages for libel. He was awarded libel damages thought to total 6 figures in relations to seriously defamatory allegations made against him.
