I heard an anecdote about an Indian couple, which I thought happened in the ancient times. It didn't! It was a recent story, and I was astonished!
A married Indian couple, 28-year-old husband and 23-year-old wife, were arrested by the Delhi police for kissing in public in 2008.
A British man and a woman were also arrested last year after a local woman accused them of breaking the country's laws by kissing in a restaurant.
It seems that in India, public displays of affection are not only taboo, but illegal as well.
I wonder if the regulation was made only for morality?
I was dismayed at the fact that foreign people could also be arrested.
One more thing: The Hollywood superstar Richard Gere had a close-call in 2007!
When Gere and Shilpa Shetty were at an AIDs awareness event in Delhi, Gere playfully kissed her hand and her face.
India's media received thousands of calls and letters asking for demanding the arrest of Gere for insulting Indian culture!!!
