American-English in natural speed please.
If you find some parts uncomfortable to read, please correct them.
Thank you!!! (^v^) /
Yesterday, I attended a meeting for a so-called "mock debating club." The eight of us, Japanese English learners, got together and practiced debating in English.
I've been feeling for a long time now that my English is sort of weird in the group. I admit that my English is usually broken with lots of mistakes. However, I've noticed that I speak English differently when speaking to native speakers then speaking with Japanese people.
Today, a friend of mine from America told me that I might be speaking English in more of a monotonous way with Japanese people.
Then, I noticed an interesting phenomenon; I definitely use English in a Japanese way, for example I try not to use strong-sounding opinions even when I need to rebut someone's ideas in the practice. I wouldn't place an emphasis on words much, therefore the pitch and roll of my intonation might become very plain.
It seems like I have a habit of being assimilated into a certain pattern that a group has without noticing. I don't know~
(^^;)
tokiya,
Thank you so much for your recording!!!
