Lady Diana Spencer the former Princess of Wales and wife of Prince Charles, was posthumously dubbed the "People's Princess" as during her life she was well-known for her active participation in chairity work and for her particular interest in children and those in need of special treatment, especially AIDS and leprosy victims. She was a patron of hospitals and organisations working with drug addicts, the homeless, the young and the elderly and she strongly supported the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.
