私の外国語習得への冒険は19歳の時、パリへの片道切符を手にしたときからスタートしました。当時、貧乏だった私は、残念ながらフランス語のレッスンを受けることができませんでした。しかし、3ヵ月後には私のフランス語はかなり上達し、6ヵ月後にはフランス語はペラペラになっていました。このとき、「外国語をマスターするのに、実際にその国に住まなければいけないのか？」と疑問に思いました。そして、たどり着いた答えは「ノー」でした。それからは、パリで生活しながらイタリア語をマスターし、その後ロンドンで働きながらスペイン語とポルトガル語をマスターしました。
