Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre
On Saint Valentine’s Day, on February 14th 1929, seven men met in a garage in Chicago, USA. They were all members of the local mafia and they were planning a robbery.
They were speaking about the best way to steal whiskey from Al Capone when four men dressed as policemen arrived and shot them.
One of the victims, Frank Gusenberg, was still alive when the real police arrived. Frank had 14 bullet wounds but when the detectives questioned him he just answered ‘No one shot me’. He died in hospital three hours later.
People generally think Al Capone ordered the shooting. Indeed, he wanted to control this part of Chicago.
