Kazakhstan is the 9th biggest country in the world with a territory of 2, 7 million square kilometers. It's so large that when it is morning in the east, it's evening in the west.
The relief of the country differs much. You can see high ice-covered mountains, hills, highlands.
There are quite a lot of rivers and lakes in Kazakhstan. The main rivers are the Irtysh, the Ural, the Chu, the Syr-Darya. The main lakes are Balkhash, Caspian sea.
The country can be divided into three zones: steppes, deserts, semi deserts. In the North and West much grain is grown. The west of Kazakhstan, especially Aktobe and Atyrau, is the center of oil extraction. The south of Kazakhstan is famous for chemical industry. Also Karaganda plays an important role in coal mining industry.
The eastern part of our republic is rich in lead and copper.
The wildlife of Kazakhstan is different. There are eagles, cranes, flamingos. Tortoises, lizards, snakes can be found in the plains. There are about 150 species of fish in the basins of our motherland. So, the nature is wonderful and rich.
