| About: | While my accent is most influenced by growing up in the urban American South, I have lived in the Northeast and New England for several years and traveled extensively (nearly all of the continental states and 20+ countries). Although I do exhibit some of the classical Southern distinctions, such as pronouncing "pin" and "pen" the same, my accent is relatively slight. The New York Times has a fun dialect quiz that is based on the Harvard Dialect Survey. It produces a heat map showing the similarity and dissimilarity of one's dialect to different parts of the US.
