Wrapping around the bay that shares its same name, San Francisco has strong culture and neighbourhoods with distinct personalities. Many visitors start their exploration of the Golden City with the iconic Golden Gate Bridge (as well as Golden Gate Park), Pier 39, riding through the hills on the historic cable cars, Alcatraz prison, the Museum of Modern Art, and other well-known attractions.

1)Eat your way through the Mission
The Mission, San Francisco’s oldest neighbourhood, is considered by locals as one of the hottest areas to find great food in the city. Named after the Mission Dolores, which was founded in 1776, this district’s long Hispanic history is reflected in the culinary traditions. Sporting some of the best Mexican food in the city, there are also all-day brunches (serving every kind of food imaginable), tasty street food, handmade ice cream, and plenty of international eateries. Savour a sweet pastry at Tartine, pop into the Bi-rite Creamery for gourmet sweets and handmade ice cream and enjoy a strong coffee at the Ritual Roasters or Four Barrel.

2) Light a bonfire on Ocean Beach
Popular on both the weekend and a warm weekday evening, Ocean Beach is where San Franciscans come to watch the sunset, enjoy a BBQ with friends, and light a bonfire. Arrive early to secure a fire pit for bonfires and be sure to pack your own logs, lighter, and kindling. Evenings like these build great travel memories.

3)Do leave the t-shirts, shorts, sandals at home.
A lot of visitors tend to think that all of California is warm, sunny and full of palm trees.San Francisco is not Los Angeles nor is it anywhere close to Southern California. T-shirts, shorts and sandals are not recommended most days, even during the summer. The smartest thing to do is to layer up, wear your t-shirt underneath a windbreaker or a hoodie. The wind and fog definitely keep SF on the chilly side!

San Francisco is the 4th largest city in the US state of California.

People from San Francisco are called San Franciscans. Some common nicknames for San Francisco are San Fran (though locals don’t love this one), The City, SFC, The Golden City, Golden Gate City, Fog City, 415 (after the area code), and Frisco. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The suspension bridge spans a one-mile-wide strait between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

The City Hasn’t Always Been Named ‘San Francisco’.Founded in 1776, the city of San Francisco wasn’t named so until 1846. Prior to the renaming, the city was known as ‘Yerba Buena’, which means ‘good herb’ in Spanish. The city got its original name from the wild mint that grew around the areas where the first European settlers pitched their tents.

San Francisco’s Chinatown was established with the Gold Rush of 1848. It’s the oldest Chinatown in the US and the largest one in the world outside of Asia.

The city’s first electric streetcar started running in 1892. Much of the San Francisco cable car and streetcar system is still running today.

Dustin Hoffman was born on 8 August 1937 in Los Angeles. At the age of 19, he wanted to
become a stage actor, so he left university. And at 20, he went to New York City, to start a
career as an actor. While he was in New York he did a lot of different jobs to pay for his acting
lessons. For about ten years, he did TV commercials and had small TV roles.
In 1966 at the age of 29, he went back to Los Angeles, because he was selected for an audition
in the movie The Graduate, to play the leading role.
While he was auditioning for the role, he felt that he wasn’t very good, so after the shooting, he
was impatient to get back to New York City.
Back in New York he was asked by his agent to call Mike Nichols, the film director of The
Graduate. On the phone, he heard the most beautiful words an actor can hear: “Well, you got
it!!!!” He was given the leading role!
The film changed his life forever, because in 1968 it was one of the biggest successes in the
history of movies. A star was born!

London is too huge to see everything.
You should spend more than 3 or 4 days and plan your trip.
There are so many tourists during holidays that you shouldn't go at that period.
London can be expensive so you should visit the free attractions like museums.
Dining out / eating in restaurant can be expensive too so you should buy from take-away or supermarkets.
To get around London faster and cheaper, you should buy an Oyster Card.
