The story of one man's battle to return home after a life-threatening and economically devastating virus had been unleashed open an unsuspecting world!
It all started on Sunday the 15th of March when a little trip to England to visit my family went awry!

It was Monday evening, and it was after having enjoyed a pleasant visit in the house of my sister and her family that things took a turn for the worse. At 9 pm that evening my Mother enquired as to whether or not my flight home on Wednesday the 18th would be affected?  So I checked and to my horror, it had been cancelled!  So I quickly booked another flight the next day going to Paris, but unfortunately, as my car was parked at Limoges airport, that flight left me needing to travel 420 kilometres with little to no public transport available due to the aforementioned CCP virus!  I didn't care because at that stage, my greatest fear was being trapped in England with the borders sealed!
So the following day on the 17th of March I traveled to Gatwick; the airport was running at about 10% of its usual daily conveyance of passengers. The airport was eerily quiet as it was devoid of its more typical clamor!  Of course, Easy Jet was still enforcing its excess luggage rules and subsequent penalties with its usual vigor!  I boarded the plane of mainly young French people fleeing England in fear of the unknown. My fellow travelers and I were stressed and uncomfortable with the tense atmosphere. We landed in Paris at the Charles de Gaulle airport which is in fact 30 kilometres northeast of Paris in a town called Roissy, which I can now pronounce perfectly!  I felt that upon landing the air crew's failure to open the plane's door for more than 30 minutes did not bode well for my impending journey but, eventually, after several apologies, they forcefully wrestled the offending door free and we were off!
