Gerty Theresa Cori was born on August 15, 1896. She was a biochemist who became the third woman to win a Nobel Prize in science in 1947, and the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Gerty Cori was born in Prague. She grew up at a time when women were marginalized in science and allowed few educational opportunities but she was admitted to medical school, where she met her future husband Carl Cory. The couple emigrated to the United States in 1922.
Gerty continued her medical researches and published research findings coauthored with her husband, as well as publishing singly. However, because of sexism, she had difficulty securing research positions, and the ones she obtained provided meager pay.

In 1957, Gerty Cori died after a ten-year struggle with myelosclerosis. She remained active in the research laboratory until the end of her life. In 2004, both Gerty and Carl Cori were designated a National Historic Chemical Landmark.

All Scottish people have red-hair, are angry all the time and wear tartan.
I am a brunette and very calm-natured. I will admit that I wear tartan occasionally, but my tartan dress was bought in H&M and is probably owned by thousands of others around the world, not just Scots.

There is no electricity in the Highlands.
Now, this is a bizarre statement which I've heard at least three times. You’d think that I came from a developing country, not a small town in the United Kingdom. Surprisingly, we Highlanders also live in the 21st Century and have electricity, access to telephone, television and even WiFi.

Everyone drinks whisky.
While this is probably true for some people living in the Highlands, we do have running tap water and access to supermarkets where there are a range of other drink products available; and not just alcoholic ones!

There are sheep everywhere.
There are a lot of sheep, but to say they are everywhere is an exaggeration. They are almost everywhere. However, most sheep are kept in fields and you will not see a herd of sheep in your local supermarket.

There are no roads in the Highlands.
Like the rest of the UK, we have roads. Admittedly, some are not kept in the best condition and there are probably more potholes than cars on the road, but we do have roads. However, I’d much rather be stuck behind a tractor travelling at 20mph along a country road with beautiful scenery all around me than stuck in traffic on a motorway, so it’s not all bad!

The kelpie is a water spirit that can transform itself, usually appearing as a horse and sometimes as a human. They can be found near rivers and lochs (lakes) across Scotland, and are not usually friendly. If you get curious and decide you want to stroke the horse’s mane, you might find yourself wanting to mount it and go for a ride. But once you are on the horse's back you cannot get off, and the horse runs deep into the water, taking you forever from the land. So, if you ever travel to Scotland and find a wild horse standing alone by the water, I would leave it alone if I were you.

Part 1
Once upon a time there was a boy called Jack. He lived with his mother. They were very poor. All they had was a cow.
One morning, Jack's mother told Jack to take their cow to the market and sell her. On the way, Jack met a man. He gave Jack some magic beans for the cow. Jack took the beans and went back home. When Jack's mother saw the beans she was very angry. She threw the beans out of the window.
The next morning, Jack looked out of the window. There was a giant beanstalk. He went outside and started to climb the beanstalk.

Part 2
Jack jumped out of the cupboard. He took the hen and the harp. Suddenly, the harp sang, "Help master!". The giant woke up and shouted: "Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum!". Jack ran and started climbing down the beanstalk.
The giant came down after him. Jack shouted : "Mother! Help!".
Jack's mother took an axe and chopped down the beanstalk. The giant fell and crashed to the ground.
Nobody ever saw him again. With the golden eggs and the magic harp, Jack and his mother lived happily ever after.

My name is Tony and I live in Jersey City, New Jersey

Good, what do you do for a living?
VOICE 2:
I'm a police officer and I would really like to be a famous police officer in New Jersey.

VOICE 1:
Oh, you seem motivated! What is your inspiration in life?
VOICE 2:
I am! My father has always been my inspiration in life. He was a great role model and I hope that I can be the same for my children.

VOICE 1:
Good, I hope that this would help you for the different challenges there are in the show! What about your hobbies?
VOICE 2:
I do jet skiing a lot with my friends. I like playing pool on Friday nights and what I really enjoy is surfing on the internet.

VOICE 1:
Ok, good to know! Can you give me two things that you hate in life?
VOICE 2:
I really hate thugs who wear skinny jeans. I also hate people who talk to while I'm on the phone. I find this very rude and annoying.

VOICE 1:
OK, I write that down... What are your strengths and your flaws?
VOICE 2:
Hmm... I'd say that I am clever, competitive and versatile. Three things that would help me on an island! However, I’d say that I am manipulative, frank and a bit aggressive.

VOICE 1:
All the things that a cop can be! You seem like a good competitor, aren’t you?
VOICE 2:
Yes I am!

VOICE 1:
Ok, now tell me… why do you want to be on Survivor?
VOICE 2:
First: THE MILLION DOLLARS, and I'm really motivated to win this prize.
Second: I'm a huge fan of the show and I would love to give the fans a great season to be remembered.

VOICE 1:
Why would we choose you and not another person?
VOICE 2:
Because my motto is "Adapt and overcome". That's the kind of thing that helped me during my career and I'm going to keep abiding by that.

VOICE 1:
Do you think your experience as a police officer will help you on the island?
VOICE 2:
Definitely. I think that my career can be very useful to survive on the island and to win all the challenges.

VOICE 1:
