(Jun 22nd 2011 ）. I`ve been hearing the sound of rain through the window.

Lately in Seoul, it has been pretty hot, and finally it rained today.
This time, I heard the sound of rain through the window.
By the way, there are a few things I would like to write about, only it`s not easy to write because of my poor English.
I really feel stifled since I can`t express my thoughts and feeling.
Therefore I have to talk very simply。
Anyway, today I upload three pictures。
The first picture is a city in China hit by what was called Wuxi's flood.
This city was flooded by heavy rain last week.
Even though a flood is very serious, this young couple seems so romantic。
The second picture is a exam paper which one Korean man gave to his daughter`s boyfriend.
The third pictures is a Korean food called samgyetang (chicken soup with ginseng).
Today I found an essay which one British man who has been living in Seoul for three years wrote in today's newspaper.
That title is “The summer that I am waiting to eat samgyetang : 삼계탕 기다려지는 여름”.

Eye Tracking
The use of eye tracking to measure various aspects of the marketing communication program is nothing new. Companies have used this methodology to determine which labels are most likely to catch the consumer’s eye in a supermarket and to track how effective various elements of an advertisement are in catching viewers’ attention. The technique has also been used to test television commercials, by watching where the viewer’s eyes focus and for how long. Now eye-tracking methodology is being expanded to help companies in new ways. One of these is determining the effectiveness of online advertising. As you would expect, advertisers want to know if their Internet advertising is being noticed.
One measure, of course, is whether or not the viewer clicks on the ad.But this tells only that the ad has been seen (or accidentally clicked on!) but not the impact of various types of ads or the effect of where the ads are placed. As noted by Rice University professor David Lane, who studies the effectiveness of banner ads, “People don’t know how effective ads are, and there are so many different ways of advertising. They don’t know which ones work best.”
Other university researchers have also measured effectiveness through eye tracking. Stanford University researchers used this method to see where people focused while reading online news sites and where and how long they looked at the ads. At the University of Wales in the United Kingdom, ads were sandwiched between flashes of puppies and hairy spiders in an attempt to see what was noticed most. University researchers are not the only ones interested in determining advertising effectiveness through eye tracking. AT&T is just one of the companies that employ this methodology to determine the impact of their website designs. By tracking the eyes of viewers for 30 minutes, the company was able to document viewing patterns and to uncover exactly what people looked at as they visit home pages. The results were then used to design AT&T’s sites to be more user-friendly and to be more effective than competitors’ sites. IBM is also using this method to watch what users look at on the screen.
So what do researchers find out by watching our eyes? The Rice study showed that many Internet users largely ignore banner ads. A study at the University of Indiana, which used electrodes to measure heart rate and GSR activity along with eye tracking, produced results that were consistent with those at Rice. The study further indicated that static banner ads elicited no reactions in the additional physiological measures and animated ads elicited a mild response, with both types being less effective than television advertising. The Stanford study showed that viewers’ eyes first went to the text on news sites, ignoring graphics and ads, but they later viewed as many as 45 percent of the banners—though only for an average of one second. In essence, the studies concluded that banner ads aren’t very effective.
As a result, like AT&T, companies are exploring new ways to make online advertising effective. New forms of ads, new placements, and other creative ideas are being explored to try to catch your eye.Maybe if they just had more creative ads?

Comparative Advertising
Comparative advertising is the practice of either directly or indirectly naming competitors in an ad and comparing one or more specific attributes. This form of advertising became popular after the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) began advocating its use in 1972. The FTC reasoned that direct comparison of brands would provide better product information, giving consumers a more rational basis for making purchase decisions. Television networks cooperated with the FTC by lifting their ban on comparative ads, and the result was a flurry of comparative commercials. Initially, the novelty of comparative ads resulted in greater attention. But since they have become so common, their attention-getting value has probably declined. Some studies show that recall is higher for comparative than noncomparative messages, but comparative ads are generally not more effective for other response variables, such as brand attitudes or purchase intentions. Advertisers must also consider how comparative messages affect credibility. Users of the brand being attacked in a comparative message may be especially skeptical about the advertiser’s claims.
Comparative advertising may be particularly useful for new brands, since it allows a new market entrant to position itself directly against the more established brands and to promote its distinctive advantages. Direct comparisons can help position a new brand in the evoked, or choice, set of brands the customer may be considering.
Comparative advertising is often used for brands with a small market share. They compare themselves to an established market leader in hopes of creating an association and tapping into the leader’s market. For example, Savin Corp. used comparative ads for a number of years that were aimed directly at Xerox, the market leader in the copier industry. The campaign was very effective in convincing decision makers at small and mid-size companies that Savin should be considered as an alternative to Xerox as well as other copier companies such as Canon, Konica, and Mita . Market leaders, on the other hand, often hesitate to use comparison ads, as most believe they have little to gain
by featuring competitors’ products in their ads. There are exceptions, of course; Coca-Cola resorted to comparative advertising in response to challenges made by Pepsi that were reducing Coke’s market share. Another area where comparative messages are quite commonly used is political advertising. Political advertising is viewed as an important component of political speech and thus enjoys more First Amendment protection than commercial speech and less regulation by either government or self-policing agencies. Thus, it has become quite common for political ads to contain negative, one-sided attacks on an opposing candidate’s weaknesses such as character flaws, voting record, public misstatements, broken promises, and the like. The goal of these ads is to discredit the character, record, or position of an opponent and create doubt in voters’ minds about his or her ability to govern effectively. A major reason why negative political ads are used successfully is that voters often tend to weight negative information more heavily than positive information when forming impressions of political candidates. However, studies have shown that the use of “attack advertising” by politicians can result in negative perceptions of both candidates.

The main aim of the project is experimental research related to friction, energy efficiency, corrosion and wear, sealing, heat generation and heat transfer in fluid power components.
The project concentrates on finding optimal coating materials as well as appropriate surface finishing techniques for components operating in unfavorable operating conditions.
The impact of my work on machining processes of new coated corrosion and wear resistant surfaces will be evaluated; factors considered are: machining costs, surface texture/roughness, impact on fatigue etc.
The outcome will be a comparison between a based material and coated materials such as fatigue testing and measuring parameters of surface integrity.
Surface integrity comprises parameters such as roughness, hardness, residual stresses and structure. Round specimens were produced by turning with two values of surface roughness (Ra 1,6 μm, Ra 3,2 μm). The procedure was carried out in the same way as on the real components in the industry.
The same process was performed on production coated specimens then these specimens were coated through HVOF method. The final roughness was Ra 0,3 μm by grinding. At the end I created the S-N curves for all materials.
The main idea was identifying the influence of surface finish (before coating) on the fatigue life.
Main target: Proposition for good new coating and sealing solutions to upgrade present-day hydraulic products and to increase their competitiveness on markets involving products for demanding corrosive environments.

If I could recommend you a perfect holiday abroad you should choose Finland and Lapland (the northern part of Finland).
I have been in Finland since last July; that means almost the whole year! I can really confirm that Finland is a beautiful country; there are lot of lakes and forests.
That is a reason why Finland is called "Country of a thousand lakes". I have been twice to Lapland such as in summer and winter. We spent a week there during the winter. You can see the Northern lights as well as beautiful colors in the sky. There are many activities to choose from for example visiting an Arctic museum in Rovaniemi, actually Rovaniemi is called, A heard of Lapland,. It is also situated close to the Arctic Circle. That is a favourite area for tourists. There is Santa Claus' cottage and Santa´s foundation was in Rovaniemi. One of the most popular attractions are huskies trips, dogs run with sleds, the journey goes through forests and covered areas of snow. If you like going hiking, you can take snowshoes and enjoy hiking in nature. As you know, Finland is known as the home of saunas. Saunas are everywhere. It is common to go inside the sauna and then if you want to cool off you can go to a lake. Of course the lake is frozen in winter, but in the ice there is a hole and it is an opportunity to check out everyday life in Finland.
Finally I would like to compare the size of the two countries. The area of Finland is 4,3 times higher than the Czech Republic.

• Yesterday I went to see my son. Yes!i have son, and he is a korean soildier now. Are you surprised? Hahaa~~~ I am already an old mom.^_____^♪

• Because, for me, it was the first time driving there. But fortunately, there wasn’t any problem. I arrived at the entrance of the army/military base.

• I arrived at that guard post very safely, then I had to change my identification card into a visiting card.
• So the guide soldier let me stop in front of an obstacle.
• So~~ after I got an admission card, I started up my car again to go through the entrance ,WHAT?
• It was the sound of air escaping from my tire.
• Yeah~~those guide soldieres also ran to my car and looked surprised.

• My tire was flat!
• I should just call the insurance company and let them help me as soon as possible
• My son also went out for me,and looked at tire. Then ?

• Then, my son and I had a spring meeting in the army’s garden.

아~창밖의 날씨가 너무 좋아요. 정말 멋진 오월의 햇살입니다!
잔인한 사월은 쫓겨 가고, 드디어 아름다운 오월입니다! 그런데, 어제 제가 저질렀던 바보같은 이야기를 해 드리겠습니다. 어제 나는 아들 면회를 갔습니다. 네, 저는 아들이 있어요. 그리고 그 아들은 대한민국 군인이랍니다. 놀라셨어요? 하하하~~~ 저는 이미 나이 많은 엄마랍니다. 여러분은 아세요? 어떤분은 이미 아실테고 어떤분은 모르시기도 하실거예요. 일반적으로 몸과 마음이 건강한 한국의 젊은이는 누구나 국방의 의무를 다해야 합니다.

아무튼, 어제 나는 혼자서 아들을 보러 갔어요.
왜냐 하면 남편이 그저께 북경/베이징에 갔기 때문이거던요.
그래서 나는 나 혼자 가는 일이 좀 걱정이/염려가 되었어요.
나 혼자 운전해서 가는 일이 처음이였거던요.
그러나 다행히도, 아무일 없이/무사히 경비소입구에 도착 했답니다.

네 , 정문 경비초소까지는 아무 무사히 도착했답니다.
그러면 내 신분증과 면회증/출입증을로 바꿔야 하거던요./교환 해야 하거던요.
그래 경비 서는 군인인 장애물(큰 못을 박아두고 무단진입을 방지 하는곳) 앞에 정차 하라 했어요.
그런데 내가 출입증을 받아서 시동을 다시 걸고 ,막 출발을 하려 하는데~~? 앗?
뭐지? 이게 무슨 소리야? 피시식~피시식~(@__@;;)
네!!!! 내 타이어에서 바람 빠지는 소리였습니다.!
이런 바보 같은 일이! 이렇게 멍청하다니!
뭐, 어떻게 해요? 보험회사에 전화해서 최대한 빨리 도와 달라고 부탁했답니다.
아들도 나와서 보더니 한숨을 날리며 단지 “아휴~ 엄~~마~~!!” 라고 말할뿐입니다. @_@;;

그래서, 뭐그래도 괜잖았어요.
보험사원이 타이어를 갈아 주고,
나와 아들은 5월의 봄을 군대 정원에서 보냈어요.
그 정원에 엄청나게 큰 벗나무가 있거던요.
그 나무 아래에서 우리는 떡을 먹었답니다.
그리고 산을 따라서 난 작은 시냇물을 따라서 산책도 했고요^^
물론 베티 짱아도 한께 걸었지요.

• 除了残疾人或者教育不足的人以外身体健康且正常的人都得尽当兵的义务。

Eurozone finance ministers have postponed a final decision on a 12bn-euro (£10-bn) loan to Greece until it introduces further austerity measures.

The ministers said they expected to pay the latest tranche of a 110bn-euro EU and IMF aid package by mid-July.

But it will depend on the Greek parliament passing 28bn euros of new spending cuts and economic reforms.

The ministers also committed to put together a second bail-out to keep the country afloat over the coming years.

The Greek government expects it to be similar in size to the first one. Athens has said it needs funds by July to avoid defaulting on its debt.

'Traitors!'

Earlier, thousands of people gathered outside the parliament building in Athens to oppose any further cuts.

Waving banners and Greek flags, they shouted: "Thieves! Traitors!"

Even if there is another bail-out of around 110bn euros, Greeks have lost faith in the plan. All they see is debt piling on debt.

This is where the danger lies. A creeping despair. Injured national pride. Ten years of austerity.

Even so the bet must be that the Greeks reluctantly, sullenly, will go along with new austerity but I have sensed a despair that last year just wasn't there and no-one knows where that will lead.

Inside, Prime Minister George Papandreou urged MPs to accept his programme of tax increases, spending cuts and privatisation - expected to raise 50bn euros by 2015.

"The consequences of a violent bankruptcy or exit from the euro would be immediately catastrophic for households, the banks and the country's credibility," he said at the start of a three-day debate.

MPs will vote on Tuesday on a confidence motion in Mr Papandreou's cabinet, which he reshuffled last week amid mounting unrest.

Appeal for unity

After a seven-hour meeting in Luxembourg that ended early on Monday, the finance ministers said they would not approve the disbursement to Greece of the 12bn euros - 8.7bn euros from eurozone governments and 3.3bn euros from the IMF - until the country's parliament passed the fiscal strategy and privatisation laws.

"To move to the payment of the next tranche, we need to be sure that the Greek parliament will approve the confidence vote and support the programme, so the decision will be taken at the start of the month of July," said Belgian Finance Minister Didier Reynders.

A statement issued by the ministers called on all political parties in Greece to "support the programme's main objectives and key policy measures to ensure a rigorous and expeditious implementation".

"Given the length, magnitude and nature of required reforms in Greece, national unity is a prerequisite for success," it added.

The ministers also concluded that because Greece was unlikely to return to the commercial money markets by early 2012, a second bail-out would be needed.

The new aid package, to be outlined by early July, will include loans from other eurozone countries.

It is also expected to feature a voluntary contribution from private investors, who will be invited to buy up new Greek bonds as old ones mature.

"Ministers agreed that the required additional funding will be financed through both official and private sources and welcome the pursuit of voluntary private sector involvement in the form of informal and voluntary roll-overs of existing Greek debt at maturity for a substantial reduction of the required year-by-year funding within the programme, while avoiding a selective default for Greece," the statement said.

Officials told the Reuters news agency that the plan was expected to fund Greece into late 2014 and total about 120bn euros.

This would comprise 60bn euros of official loans, 30bn euros from the private sector, and 30bn euros from Greek privatisation proceeds, reports Reuters.

The agreement came after the eurozone ministers held a conference call with other members of the G7 group of rich industrialised nations.
