During the holidays I visit my grandfather George. He lives in Belfast and he is 70 years old. He is very nice. I like him.

Ms Chase : Hello?

Devon : Good afternoon Ms Chase, I saw your ad at the supermarket for a dog walker. Are you still looking for someone?

Ms Chase : Oh yes! Yes I am! I’m looking for someone to walk my little Custer, it’s a poodle.

Devon : Brilliant! My name is Devon, I am 15 years old and I just love animals.

Ms Chase : Oh really? Do you have any work experience? Have you worked as a dog walker before?

Devon : Yes I have! I have already taken care of my neighbours’ dogs Sam and Ginger. I’m good at playing with dogs at the park and I know how to feed them after the walk.

Ms Chase : And could you tell me more about your personality? I hope that you’re athletic!

Devon : Don’t worry, I’m extremely fit! I’m punctual too and people say I’m kind and responsible.

Ms Chase : Great! When would you be available?

Devon : Well… the best would be on Sundays and every Wednesday afternoon after school.

Ms Chase : Could you also work in the evenings?

Devon : Yes, definitely. But I couldn’t make it on Monday evenings because I play basketball in a club.

Ms Chase : Sounds perfect! Just one more thing: I usually pay $7 an hour… does it sound okay to you?

Devon : Yeah, yeah, that’s fine!

Ms Chase : I’d be happy to meet you in person. Would you like to come over and meet my little Custer?

Devon : Sure, I would love that!

Morocco, also known as the Kingdom of Morocco, is a Maghreb country located in northwest Africa. Its political system is a constitutional monarchy, the current king is Mohamed VI. Its administrative and political capital is Rabat and its largest city, as well as its economic capital, is Casablanca. It is characterised by mountainous or desert areas and is one of the only countries - together with Spain and France to have shores on the Mediterranean Sea on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. It has a population of almost thirty-four million inhabitants. The currency used is the dirham. Moreover, its culture has been Berber-Arabic for several centuries, and has spread mainly to the Maghreb and southern Spain. Moroccans are mainly Muslim. Indeed, the Moroccan constitution defines Islam and Arabness as "fundamental components" of the identity of the Moroccan people. Islam is defined as the state religion, a state that guarantees the free exercise of worship to all. The motto is “God, the Fatherland, the King”, we then find religion and royal power, the two fundamental principles of Morocco. This country is known for its culinary atypical specialities such as mint tea, coucous, or its traditional soup often consumed during Ramadan. The inhabitants are often dressed with traditional clothes such as the djellaba.Tourists come to Morocco mainly for its good weather and for its year-round summer temperature. They come especially to visit Marrakech, the largest Moroccan tourist city with its famous place, Jemaa el-Fna.

Magic seems to date back to Egyptian civilizations. A magician called dedi is said to have performed a beheading for the pharaoh. According to the story, Desi replaced the severed bird heads. However, the real magic tricks appeared in the Middle Ages. The most famous were the ball and cup tricks, and the coin and dice tricks. At the time, magic was not well received: people did not understand the tricks. It scared them. Magic was confused with witchcraft and anyone who practiced magic was condemned to death. About fifty thousand magicians died. Reginald Scot publishes a book in fifteen eighty-four (The Discovery of Witchcraft) to show that magic tricks are illusions. It reveals some tricks. This is the first book of magic. Modern magic was born with Robert-Houdin in the nineteenth century; he is nicknamed the "father of modern magic". He was one of the best illusionists of all time and he inspired a lot of people. He was also a scientist. His tricks were to bring out objects too big to fit in a box, to levitate people, to do divination. He was even invited by the Queen of England and Queen Victoria. Magician Harry Houdini takes his name from Robert Houdin and is known for his awesome escape tricks. He rose to fame when he challenged the Chicago police to escape their jail in less than five minutes. He did it in three minutes. Everyone also knows the magician David Copperfield; he is the most successful commercial magician of all time.

For example, for some jobs, you have to study a long time - four or five years to become a journalist, five years for a pilot, six years for a lawyer, seven for a doctor

Mason: Five hours a week! Careers teacher! That's the job for me!

Hi! My name is Josh and I’m 14. I’m a freshman in Abraham Lincoln High School. It’s cool to be in the 9th grade ‘cos you have plenty of things to discover: new school, new places, new friends… Days are shorter than in middle school, so it’s great, you can have many after-school-activities.
In the morning, I usually cycle to school. I leave home at quarter to eight because in Abraham Lincoln School, the bell rings at 8 AM. After the pledge of Allegiance, the first period starts at five past eight. My favourite day is Tuesday because I attend the maths and IT classes. Indeed, I’m better at sciences than at literature! I always have lunch at school and I belong to the drama club. We meet at 1PM on Wednesday. I’m fond of acting! Last year, I played the role of Dracula!
My school is stricter this year because we aren’t allowed to have marks under the average. If we do, we have to stay later for extra training. Fortunately, we can be helped by older students.
School finishes at forty to three, then, I usually hang out with the Jocks because I love playing football and basketball. We often meet at the stadium. When I come back home, I sometimes take a nap, then I do the homework. I don’t have any part time job because my parents want me to study instead.
