Hi mom! How are you?

I just wanted to tell you that I’m having so much fun in London.
Two days ago, on Monday, I visited Buckingham Palace, but I did not see the Queen. I was quite disappointed, but I guess she had important things to do!
Later on that day, I went shopping in Oxford Street. There are so many shops, it was amazing! I found some cute souvenirs. I bought you a beautiful shirt and a mug.
After that, around five p.m., I started to feel a bit tired, so I went to Starbucks and drank a cappuccino. It was delicious!
Finally, I went to the restaurant with my friend Sam near Regent’s Park. I ate fish and chips for the first time. You would love it!

Yesterday, I woke up at seven thirty. The weather was good so I decided to go to London Eye to admire the view over the city. It was magical!
You know that I love History and the British Royal Family, right? So, in the evening, I visited Westminster Abbey and saw the coronation throne. It was so interesting! In fact, Westminster Abbey is older and more impressive than St Paul’s Cathedral.
Then, I went to Madame Tussauds. I took a picture with Johnny Depp! I mean, with his wax figure. It was funny and unusual but very expensive. I paid £32!
In the evening, I took a boat along the River Thames. From the boat, I saw the Gherkin Tower and the Shard. These skyscrapers are very modern. In my opinion, they are a little bizarre… I prefer old buildings like The Houses of Parliament or the National Gallery. They are more beautiful!

Today, I’m going to Camden Town.

Let me tell you about my superhero. He's a man, his name is Mr Stunning. He's amazing. His real name is Steve Mc Queen and he works as a journalist. You'll recognize him because he has got short curly blond hair, green eyes and a moustache. He's so cute ! Every night he fights bad guys. He wears a green costume with a yellow belt. He has got a red mask and a long black cape. He hasn't got a shield but he can shoot lasers with his eyes. Unfortunately he can't breathe under water or he can't fly but he can read minds and change people's moods. He can make them happy or sad, how awesome ! Don't you think ? I think he's stronger than Batman and he's more courageous than Superman. Who is your favourite superhero ?

My robot is a male robot.
His name is P.B. = Play-Bot.
He is made of metal and he is painted in grey.
He looks like a human: he has two arms, two legs, a head and a belly.
He is friends with Wall-E and R2D2.
He is smaller than C3P-O, but he is as intelligent. He is funnier than Baymax and more obedient than Bumblebee. He is as nice and caring as Wall-E. He is less dangerous than Sonny.
Play-bot is designed to look after children. He will do the cooking and babysit when the parents are out. He will play with the children: he is programmed to tell bedtime stories and sing lullabies.

Joan Ruth Bader was born to an observant Jewish family in New York in 1933. Known as Ruth, she suffered tragedy early in her life – her only sister died at the age of six, and her mother died just before Ruth’s high school graduation. Ruth was clever and talented. She earned top grades at school, and received a full scholarship to the prestigious Cornell University. It was there that she met Martin Ginsburg and they married in 1954. The couple both studied law while raising their family together. But althought she was extremely qualified, Ruth struggled to find work, simple because she was a woman with children. When she visited Sweden in 1962 for a research project, Ruth was inspired by the country’s advances towards gender equality – here she saw women receiving better healthcare and more opportunities to work and study. In the 1970s, Ruth began teaching and writing about equality, and as well as fighting for women’s rights, she argued for equality for male-care givers. She became a judge in 1980, and in 1993, she was appointed to the Supreme Court, the highest court in the US. On its benches, she consistently ruled in favour of gender equality, worker’s rights and equal voting rights. Ruth became known for her powerful disagreements with decisions made by the court, known as ‘dissents’. However, she was good friends with many of her colleagues despite their differences. Ruth continued in her role as a Supreme Court judge until the end of her life in 2020. Her passionate defence of equality made her a hero and a much-loved icon around the world.

Helen Keller was born on June 27th 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. She was a healthy baby, but at nineteen months old, she fell ill and nearly died. When she recovered, she was blind and deaf, and therefore also dumb. She was obviously very intelligent, and explored the world using her other senses. She could recognize people by touching their faces and make herself understood by using gestures and mime.

However, as she grew older, she became more and more frustrated and uncontrollable. In 1887, twenty-year-old Anne Sullivan, a tutor, arrived to help them. Helen was seven and a miracle was about to happen. Anne started to teach Helen how to communicate, spelling words into her hand. But Helen did not understand and was very frustrated. One day, she suddenly understood the meaning of “water”, and a world of words opened up to her.

Helen Keller learnt both Braille and the deaf blind alphabet, and also how to read people’s lips by pressing her fingertips against them. Although she also tried to learn how to speak, she was never quite understandable and Anne always had to translate what she said. Despite all her handicaps, she was an exceptional student. In 1900, she was accepted at one of America’s best universities where she studied Latin, Greek and modern languages.

By the age of 23, Helen had already written her first book: The Story Of My Life, which was an immediate success and made her famous. She later wrote eleven other books. After college, with her companion Anne, she began travelling around the USA and Europe, often to raise money for the American Foundation for the Blind.

Throughout her life she campaigned for deaf-blind people and demonstrated her lip-reading techniques to celebrities such as King George V (Queen Elizabeth II’s grandfather) and the President of the United States. In 1964, four years before her death, Helen received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

In a few years, when Sofia gets her first chance to spend a redesigned $20 bill featuring Harriet Tubman, the Massachusetts fifth-grader can take some extra pride. She will know the role she played in getting the first woman portrayed on U.S. paper currency in more than a century.

Sofia wrote a letter to President Barack Obama. She noticed the lack of women on U.S. currency. She realized it while working on a class project.

On April 20, her 11th birthday, she received phone calls from U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew and other officials. They informed her of the decision to put Tubman, an African-American abolitionist, on the front of the $20 bill. Other women will be featured on bills, too.

"If women do important things just like men, women should be on our currency, too. And once that happens it's going to be amazing," Sofia said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Her letter to Obama in 2014 read in part: "I am writing to know why there aren't more women on dollars/coins for the United States. I think there should be more women on the dollars/coins of the United States because if there were no women there wouldn't be men."

At the bottom of the letter, Sofia suggested a dozen names that could fit the bill. One name was Tubman's. Harriet Tubman was born into slavery. After escaping, she helped other slaves gain freedom through what became known as the Underground Railroad.

Sofia also listed civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks, poet Emily Dickinson and first ladies Eleanor Roosevelt, Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Sofia did not hear back right away. But a few months later, in February 2015, a letter arrived from the White House. President Obama thanked Sofia for writing to him "with such a good idea." The women she suggested were an impressive group, "and I must say you're pretty impressive too," the letter stated.

While Tubman wasn't the only famous woman Sofia offered, she is very happy with the choice. What impressed her so much in learning about Tubman was that she not only escaped from slavery, but risked her life to help others do the same.

Sofia said she does not have plans for politics herself in the future, and instead hopes to become a scientist.

"I was really excited and to have it happen on my birthday. It was the best birthday present ever," she said.

The new $20s are expected to go into circulation in 2020. Tubman's image will replace the portrait of President Andrew Jackson. His image will move to the back of the bill.

The last woman featured on U.S. paper money was Martha Washington. She was on a dollar silver certificate from 1891 to 1896.

As a girl growing up in rural West Virginia, Katherine Johnson loved to count. She counted everything: the steps between her house and the road, the number of dishes she’d washed…etc.

This African-American little girl started high school by the time she was 10. By 18, she’d finished college, where she excelled as a math major.
She was, by all accounts, brilliant.

She helped the United States win the space race, a geopolitical competition that peaked with the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969. Despite the stereotypes she suffered from because of her race and gender, Katherine Johnson managed to work for the Flight Research Division. She and her colleagues helped NASA meet the challenge posed by the Soviets with the 1957 launch of the Sputnik 1 satellite, followed by the 1961 orbital flight of Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space.

After circling the Earth three times, the astronaut John Glenn safely splashed down—but he did not want to even begin his journey until Johnson had verified the calculations.

In 1969, Johnson helped send Apollo 11 to the moon, which is the mission she’s most proud of.
Johnson retired from NASA in 1986. In 2015, President Obama awarded 97-year-old Johnson the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
