As part of my studies, I had to do some work placements.
To apply for a work placement, you need a CV and a cover letter
If I want to apply for a job somewhere in Europe, I will need a CV in English
That's why I worked on my CV and I made a video CV too.
Because if you're looking for an apprenticeship or a work placement in Europe, a video CV is the best chance to stand out from other candidates. It's a very popular method of applying in English-Speaking countries and is now becoming more and more popular in France
For this application, we studied the typical elements of the CV
Next I wrote my CV in relation to my qualifications and work experience
In class, we also worked on SOFT SKILLS and HARD SKILLS
After that, we watched 4 video CVs to identify the elements of the paper CV.
These CV videos were creative ones that used humour to distinguish them from more classic ones. They were scripted like a short story
I really think the Video CV is the solution in order to be selected as the ideal candidate for a post in a company.
if the video CV is really good and creative, the recruiter will want to know more about you, will select your application and ask you to come for a job interview.
Unlike a paper CV, the video will allow recruiters to discover your personality and skills in an original way. You can present yourself and demonstrate how motivated you are.
Besides all that, it is the best way to show off your creativity, which is a soft skill that is very much appreciated in a team.
To make my video CV, first I introduced myself and gave some contact details : where I live, who I am, my educational background
The second step is to focus on my work experience and the skills I developed through my work experience. This is when I need to highlight my soft skills.
Personally speaking, I'm a great team player and a great communicator.
Number 3 is talking about myself, my passions, and my future projects. This part is very important too as it will allow the recruiter to know a little more about my personality.
Most important of all is the conclusion of the video. I explained in my video CV why I am the ideal person for the job.
and at the end of the video I wrote my email address and my contact details.
The video is short but effective and I can post it on social networks, such as LinkedIn or Facebook or Instagram to apply for a job in Europe. Because social networks are also the new way of advertising jobs and recruiting !
