When I think of India, the images who come to my mind are the culture, like traditional foods, costums, musics, Bollywood and well-known figures as mother Teresa and Gandhi. India counts 1,200,000,000 citizens. Its capital is Dehli. India got its independence from the United Kingdom in 1947.

But India is a country of contrasts. The population is dramatically increasing. India is the second country of the world in term of citizens and it is catching up with China. But this evolution emphasizes the diparities between the poors and the riches. 14,800 mutlimillionaires live in India while more than 30% live below the poverty line. A minority takes advantage of the situation, whereas about 80% is struggling and suffering.
A lot of people are practising different religions. 80% of poppulation believe in Hinduism, 13% in Islam, and a minority in Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism.
122 are practised in India. The most widely spoken language is Hindi, used by 40% of people. Then come Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi and Assamese.

The development and the westernization allow Indian population to attain more freedom, as to have 2 children per family, but underline the inequalities.
