In the USA, school usually starts in August.
It runs from late August to may or June.
It’s divided into semesters with 2 sessions:
Fall (from Late August to December)
Spring (from January to May or June)
In most American schools, the day starts between 7.00am and 8.00am. It It runs from 7.00 or 8.00am to 3.00 or 3.30pm.
They usually have a lunch break at 1.00pm and then from 1:00pm to 2:30pm they go back to class.
Extra curricular activities and sports start at 2.35 or 3.30pm.
It might be interesting to contrast my school - Monarch High School in Louisville, Colorado. We start at 8:35 and end at 3:55 PM. Our lunch time is 35 minutes long. There are no other breaks during the day.
