My first sailing experience was when my dad took me on his boat in 1997. I was only 6 years old but I wasn’t even seasick ! My mother likes sailing too, so I guess it’s a family thing.
My dad participated in many races but I couldn’t go with him because I was too young, so I was a bit frustrated to just be a spectator.
That’s when I came up with the idea of becoming the youngest person to sail across the Atlantic. It was just a crazy idea then, but my dad agreed to help me achieve my dream.
Since then, I’ ve practiced almost every day. Finally, two weeks ago I started my journey : I left the French coast for New- York in the USA.
The start was really difficult because I was a bit scared of all the cargo ships passing in the Atlantic. Some of them were really massive and I had to watch out all the time.
But finally, everything went as planned. The journey was fine, especially at night when I could see the stars and the moon and there was nobody around me !
When I came back, I discovered I had a fan club! I don’t know what to think about it, because I don’t feel like a hero, but it’s good to know that many people like what I did. Now, I’ve got to plan a new adventure.Maybe the Pacific ?
