Today, we are going to talk about Amelia Earhart. Amelia Earhart was an adventurer, a pilot and an author.
She was born in 1897 in Kansas, USA. At a young age, she loved adventure.
As a young woman, she became interested in planes and learnt how to fly planes in the 1920s. She became very good at flying and in 1932, she became the first woman to fly a plane across the Atlantic Ocean by herself and so, she became a celebrity!
She became a best-selling author by publishing her memoir.
In 1935, she began to organize a trip around the world of over 46,000 kilometers.
On the 10th of May 1937, she began her trip to fly around the world. Fred Noonan was a friend of hers. He came with her to help navigate. They used maps, a compass, and the stars to help find their way.
She flew 35,000 kilometers but then, her, her plane and her friend Fred disappeared in the Pacific Ocean.
Amelia Earhart was brave, hardworking, and not afraid of challenges.
