Do you think this is strange?
You can take your pick.
I mean,好きなの選んでいいよ.
自分の選んだものを取ることが出来る＝好きなものを選んでいいですよ、となります。どれでも好きなものを選べますよ、相手に伝えるフレーズです。
That means " you can chose whatever you like" , something like this.

This is the situation when A and B stay a hotel room.
A found there were three kinds of packs, tea, green tea and coffee.
B asked "which do you like?"
Then A answered that A prefer green tea.
I can't understand your point.
