How amazing Hangeul is!
Hello, everyone!
I am Bomin Kwon. I’m in the First grade from SamYook Elementary School in Wonju. I’m so glad to be here for speech and I hope you enjoy my speech.
Today, I am going to talk about Hangeul, the name of the Korean language.
A Long time ago, Korean had to use Chinese characters because we didn’t have our own alphabet. As well, only Korean nobility, called the Yang ban, could use Chinese characters. Chinese characters were too difficult for the common people to learn to read and write. This is why King Sejong invented Hangeul for them. Hangeul was very easy to learn, so most people could easily learn to read and write.
Why is Hangeul easy to read and write?
First, Hangeul is the most scientific writing system in the world. Hangeul is made up of 10 vowels and 14 consonants.
Second, the shapes of vowels and consonants are copied from the tongue.
Therefore, Hangeul can mark the most various kinds of sounds. How amazing Hangeul is!
For these reasons, Hangeul is considered to be one of the most logical writing systems in the world. And the number of foreign people studying the Korean language continues to grow. I’m very proud of Hangeul, and I’m also proud to be Korean.
