Why you switch to IM from ophthalmology?
If you know something about healthcare system in China, you will know that we are not always allowed to pick the specialty that we like. I was guided into ophthalmology, and of course I had to follow my professor’s recommendations. So I went into ophthalmology. However, my true passion has always been internal medicine. When I graduated, I really wanted to be an internist. I think the only real way to achieve my goal is coming to the United States. Entering the medical system here, getting my training here, and hopefully becoming an internist here.
